The dealer has agreed to turn my rotors and my pads have 9mm on them so they will not be replaced. They are ordering the backing plate and they will contact me once that is in. Hope this truly resolves this issue moving forward and I can get more than 12k on my brakes.

Yup, in the same boat here. Had the TSB performed and within about 12k miles the brake judder returned. Only this time my G was already out of the warranty. So freaking pissed. Anyone have any experience with the getting dealer to do TSB work after the warranty has expired? My only other option is to go aftermarket.

Did the dealer install the splash guards under the TSB or did you only get the rotors cut? I had my rotors resurfaced the 1st time, and judder came back 15K later. Since the backing plate was installed and rotors re-cut 35K ago, judder did not return. If there was no backing plate installed you certainly have a case that the work was not completed as stated. If the TSB was done correctly would just get aftermarket rotors and pads.

FWIW, the splash shield/backing plate supposedly prevents uneven cooling of rotors, which prevents uneven pad material deposits on the rotor surface which end up causing judder.

That sucks to hear all the rotor problems you guys have/are experiencing.... 56k on original OEM rotors I bought the car with 45k and those were all hwy miles so that's prob why. I also went with ceramic pads to prolong the life of the rotors sacrificing just a tad of braking power compared to the metallic OEM pads.

Maybe the person you bought it from did the judder TSB before selling it to you

The dealer installed the splash guards and resurfaced my rotors, but didn't replace my brake pads. They said that I had plenty of life left on the pads. I thought that this was odd since brake pads and rotors should both be nice and flat to start with.

You are right, they absolutely should have swapped the pads out too but of course did not do it to save money. Any imperfections on the pad surface that occurred because they adapted to the previous rotor will make hot spots on a new rotor and shorten its life quickly. Even though your pads were relatively new, they at least needed to have the glazed imperfect layer sanded down or better yet replaced. That is why they are called "stealerships"... Unfortunately, if I remember correctly, TSB states "replace pads if needed" leaving the interpretation up to the dealer - but I am sure they tech would never leave the old pads on his own car. When doing my judder maintenance I had front pads replaced as well as rotors cut/splash guards installed, except that SA initially charged me for everything as they did the work but refused the TSB. I had to call Infiniti Corporate and was credited back the entire sum. I don't think my dealer would have replaced my pads either if they knew the work would be covered by warranty.

Bottom line, it's pretty unlikely they will do any more work if you are out of warranty. Could always try though.

Nope, only service it received from Infiniti was for the clutch slave cylinder back in Jan '08 and for a squeeky gauge cluster in March of this year right before my warranty expired. Only had to pay $3 for 1/2 day with a G37x auto loaner... F the stealerships!!!

I don't understand how people's brakes are warping quickly. I mean I bought my car used with 30K, it has 45 now, so is this something I can look forward to having in a few 000 miles?

I've only had that issue with one Nissan (04Titan), hell I've had 02 Max, 04 G35 and havent had that issue. How is Nissan/Infiniti getting worse the longer they produce something? One would think they would get better, wont they?
