Clunk, clunk, clunk

Car has 70K miles, original suspension. The ride is still smooth. Only problem is it has produced a clunking sound when going over bumps at slow speeds. Time to replace the shocks and struts or is it a bushing issue?

Year and model would help, but most likely a sway bar end link, compression rod bushing or lower control arm bushing. Or all 3 haha

Trust me on this lol I went thru same problem for over a year and no one could figure it out until I took it too a tiny mechanic place. It ended up being the ball joints were cracked and leaking! The problem will get worse over time but I had same exact symptoms as you

Bushings are a common culprit.. I know on my coilovers a loose top nut was causing clunking however.

Just want to update you guys or anyone that has had this problem. I have had this problem for 1 and half years and took it to two shops in my area, who couldn't figure it out. Changed my shocks and struts but problem was still there. They told me there was nothing wrong with any of my other suspension parts. I finally decided to take to Corner 3 Garage in Orange County. They figured out the issue. It was my brake pads. My after market brake pads. They were Centric pads. It didn't fit correctly and it was clunking around. They swapped it out for OEM pads and my annoying problem is solved. I can not recommend that shop enough. They know the Nissans inside and out.
