Anyone recommend a brand of strut assembly?

Amazon Amazon
I see Unity, AM Autoparts, Leacree, TRQ at Amazon. I see FCS at Rockauto and at Amazon if I do a separate search for it.
I have a 2007 G35S 5AT rwd sedan with 120k miles. I do NOT want it lowered, I’m OK with it going back up to original ride height if not a bit more. I also would want something for the rear to match, so I may end up using OE type springs, struts, and shocks. Any firsthand experience?

Struts and shocks will not lower your vehicle, if you're going with less expensive performance ones look into the Tokico HP, if you just want cheap then KYB. The Tokico blues will probably run you $400, the KYB you can pick up for about $275.

KYB GR2 and Excel are literally the same product just so you aren't confused, they used to use the GR2 name but have since switched to the Excel-G name.

Tokico are no longer available, they left the country! Bilstein's are one of the best if you want to spend the $$ or KYB should give you a factory ride for less!

Just to be clear, a strut assembly comes with the spring installed, that’s why I wrote that I would also need something for the rears, and that may force me into looking at separate springs, struts, and shocks. I’m wanting to know if anyone has experience with any of the strut assemblies in the Amazon search link. TIA

I think you're thinking of coil overs and not struts or shocks. You won't have a lowered car if you just replace those as someone mentioned. Since for the fronts you compress them (Springs) with a tool and then put them on the new ones. The rears have the springs separate, so you don't even mess with them.

I put Tokico HP blues on the front and KYB in the rear for my car. The place I got mine didn't have the rears in stock at the time.

A strut can be purchased with springs or without, why waste money buying another set of springs when the ones you have give you the ride height and spring rate you want. When they are pre-packaged they are called a "strut assembly" which is probably not the way you want to purchase them.

Rent a spring compressor or take them down to a shop with a hydraulic press and pay them a few bucks to swap your existing springs unless you WANT to change ride height or spring rates.

Gary are you SURE? I bought a set of blues last fall for my G, they we're never made in the USA they come imported from Japan.

If they're not available anymore and you want an OEM experience I'd go with the KYB, if you're looking for a performance upgrade there's a lot of options.

Couple months ago I was having a few bushings replaced, noticed my Tokico's were leaking with less than 40K miles on them. Asked the vendor I bought them from if they could be rebuilt/replaced was told they were no longer on this side of the pond...not available! So for another K$ I ended up with Koni's.

I want the car raised back up to OE height, and I'm OK with it a little higher. Replacing springs are a given, and with a strut assembly, the springs are nearly free, but one still needs to find a solution for the rear. I appreciate those that took time to post, but feel I need to repeat myself.

You can probably pick up an OEM set of rear springs for dirt cheap, if you make a marketplace WTB post you'll likely get some hits since most folks are ditching the stock springs in favor of aftermarket ones. Just make sure to specify what dot patterns you need, I'm not sure what OEM rear dot colors are unfortunately.

OEM wheel arch height is just a touch under 28 1/4" on all 4 corners, what is your current wheel arch height?

You're saying I could install the strut assembly and do something different in the rear. I measure 27 5/8 front and rear. Honestly, I thought a V36 rolled off the truck back in the day with about 29" from the floor through the wheel center to the wheel arch, but I could be wrong.

I didn't think I had to experiment, since I only want to restore what I had before, but I could install the strut assemblies, use the car for a month or two, and measure the difference front to back. It could be that simply a quality gas shock out back will lift against my worn springs and level it out.

So back to the beginning, anybody have firsthand experience with a brand of strut assembly (FCS, Unity, TRQ, etc.)?
