^ LOL! Yeah, sounds like you might have put one washer too many in, preventing clutch from fully disengaging. You need to make sure your pedal still travels down enough, past clutch disengage point. There is a lot of pedal travel past disengage point that can be reduced, but there is a limit. Sounds like you exceeded the limit... Or you need to work on your MT footwork

I did not know that. That is strange. Only thing I can think of is when one removes pedal spring, clutch force pushing back on pedal is higher, more uneven and more springy *but* you can feel what is going on with clutch much better. It takes a bit to get used to new pedal feel. Initially after removing pedal spring, pedal spring back caused me to engage clutch too fast a few times which caused abrupt launch. Maybe something like this happened to you. Not sure. Hopefully your clutch is working fine now and your left foot has adjusted to new pedal feel.

just did this mod on my first gen, I love it, i drive every kind of car out there because i work at a car wash and I know what all the clutches feel like and it drove me nuts that my car seemed more difficult to drive than others...not anymore =) also I also have the "lower" pedal now, not complaining because its well worth it but is there a way to fix this?

you can increase or decrease pedal travel by adjusting the rod that connects the pedal to the master cylinder.

it works on 05. i suppose it should work on 03 too. just take out the spring that is in the clutch pedal assembly. and thats it. (spring that depresses when clutch is pressed).

Tomykas,

I just left play at top of travel there on my 2008. Some adjust some of the play out by loosening lock nut on clutch master cylinder piston and lengthening it (this is shaft pedal assembly pushes on to actuate clutch. But be careful about this. If you adjust out all play, you may be not fully releasing clutch when pedal is released. By leaving some play at top of travel, you are assured clutch is fully released.

I just did this in my 04 coupe and got rid of the play by adjusting the pedal all the way up and using the cruise control sensor to push on the pedal slightly to get rid of all the play. I first tried to adjust it down and using the cruise control sensor but it wasn't totaly eliminated, got to go up with the pedal and then do the clutch pedal remedy to shorten pedal travel.

Are there any long term reports out there as far as causing any issues?

I removed the spring and it definitely improved the feel, but I was thinking of putting in an alternate spring with a much smaller spring force to remove the play.

A quick search on mcmaster.com turns up, 9657K32, which looks like it might work. I was looking for something with a little less spring force(just enough to get rid of the play) but couldn't find anything else.
