Can you elaborate on this... what you're planning to do and what it will accomplish?

well the valve is nothing but engine deposits blowing right back into your intake so, figured i was just plug the intake where the valve connects and run the pcv valve down and out somewhere since its all gunk and oil spitting out of it anyways. then i saw on my350z people making a homemade catch can for under 20$ i might do that instead.

you wanted to disconnect the pcv and just let it run open under the engine? you ever heard of a vacuum leak?

After driving into work today to warm it up, I tried the throttle body relearn procedure. Started it up after successfully completing the relearn, and it's now warm idling in park at about 600 RPM. I'll be watching it closely for the new few days, but am hoping that I fixed the problem.

Just wanted to say thanks for all the troubleshooting that everyone had contributed to this thread. It definitely helped a lot.
i just cleaned my throttle body yesterday lowered my rpms alot. then today my engine light comes on and throw the code p1574 which isn't in my g35 code book. what is this relearn procedure you speak of? I just erased my code and restarted the car for now.

also when i start it, the rpms shoot up more than normal, then goes down to about 1000 then bounces a few times like i'm tapping the gas then just goes down to 800 and chills there. did you have this issue at all?

Sounds like you need to perform the throttle pedal position relearn and the idle relearn.

You should be able to find these with a quick search, i don't have them to hand right now.

It shouldn't bounce....

Bouncing means going up *and* down. Is this what you meant, supertrooper?

yeah it bounces like 4 times then it goes down to 800 and holds there at idle. And when i start it, it revs a bit hire than normal like the initial start.

If the engine is not up to running temperature, it will rev higher than normal idle, this is normal.

It should never bounce, so i'd say you need to use the re-learn procedures.
