6mt noises

For all of you 6mt drivers out there help me out. It seems as if my throw-out bearing is bad. When the car is in neutral and the clutch isn't depressed, there is this obnoxiously loud chattering sound, but if I depress the clutch the sound goes away. Is this normal or is my throw-out bearing toasted.
(Doesn't a worn throw bearing make noise when the clutch is depressed?)

p.s. I only have 12k on my car and I already did the recall for the slave cylinder which shouldn't have anything to do with this!

Unfortunatley thats the way the car is from 03 to present its completely normal, however suprisingly since my slave cylinder recall(they also replaced my clutch assembly for FREE) i have had the chatter only once and that was long time ago, however i had the chatter for the intial 12000miles before recall... hope it helps

very normal! nothing to worry about... try this, cruise at a slower speed on 2nd gear and then suddenly give it some gas... for a split second you'll hear that beautiful chatter.. lol

+2 its normal, i had the same concern, went to the dealer and had it checked out, they said it was normal. i also walked around and all 4 of their 08 g35s that they had on the lot made the same noise. i checked them all just to be sure.

you got a high performance motor and its going to take substantial driveline parts to survive. to bearing noises from high performance manual cars I've owned through the years is nothing new. regardless of make. my 427 c6z not only has to bearing noise, but it makes the most awesome driveline noise when under heavy acceleration. it almost faintly sounds like a roots style blower whine. no big deal, you want meatier parts and edge performance, noise comes with the game

start worrying if you can't engage/or grind gears or you are in a gear and the rpms progess forward on the tach, but you feel far less acceleration. thats most likely the signs of a bad clutch

If you are under warranty, take it back to the dealer. You paid good money for your car, so tell them that obnoxious noises are not acceptable. A $36K car should not sound like a lawn mower, regardless if the noise will affect anything mechanical or not.

My 05 6MT did it the 1st week I had the car and the dealer said it was normal. It got worse over the next year and the dealer said I need a new transmission. (under warranty) I just got an 08 6MT and it does the same thing. Keep a good line of contact with your dealer....
