catback exhaust + either HFC or TP ?

hi pple . .

finally i decided to go for FI exhaust system but i'm a bit hesitated whether to go for a cat back exhaust system only or shud i get HFC, TP along with. .

plz help !

i'm lookin for more HPs only, no matter how loud the sound is .
so . . will a cat back going to give me those 9 RWHP that FI has already claimed ?

if not . . then plz let me know which one to go for along with my cat back :
HFC ? or TP ? and why ?

remember . . more power is the only thing i care about, but i'll be happy with a different nice sound also ( not loud plz )

heyyy . . TP= headers, correct ?

If you don't care about sound, go cat-back and HFC.

TP = Test Pipe...not headers. Test pipes and High Flow Cats replace your catalytic converters. HFC's still have a catalytic converter in them, just a smaller brick. Test pipes are straight pipes and are in no way legal.

Test pipes will make your car VERY loud and it will tend to drone a bit more. Also, it will smell very bad (bad enough to attract unwanted attention from local law enforcement). HFC's will be slightly louder than stock. If you want the most HP then go with test pipes, but it's not going to be that much more on an NA engine...at least not worth the noise difference.

I heard the biggest gains is to swap out our cats to either HFCs or Tps, Tps would most likely give you like 2-3 whp more or something like that, but would be louder, and no way legal (like what was said before) and From what i heard would rasp like crazy, if you dont' care about sound or being legal or not, go with a full cat back with Test pipes and then get new headers and a tune.

i read that stillens cat back at 2.5in is a little loud. so i went to a muffler shop and had him put on 2.25in catback with a large pipe up front. i then went to techno square and had it tuned for the new exhaust. in stock tune with the new exhaust, i dynoed 242hp and 202 torque. After yoshi's tune, i got 282hp and 238 torque. the exhaust work (with handsome reverse cone tips and chrome magnaflows costs hundreds less than FI or stillen.

jimk again, a correction - a large Xpipe up front, with glasspak resonators and magnaflows. recently i raced a modified 335 - he was chipped and custom exhaust. we went to 120mph side by side, but i hit the rev limiter twice. i'm sure if i didn't i would have pulled him.

I've had HFCs, TPs, and resonated TPs. HFCs are hands down the best choice (good sound no stink), followed by resonated TP (The smell is god awful with some rasp). Non resonated are terrible, never again.

Anyone have sound clips of a FI exhaust system with Test Pipes I'd like to hear how it sounds. I don't know why but I'm contemplating adding Test Pipes instead of HFCs to my current FI Cat back system. Although this seems like a thread jacking its not , it will help the OP in making his decision.
