G37: If your tranny has a rough downshift between third & second gear. . .

My car just received the newest software updates, part of which addresses a problem many owners have complained about. The downshift between third and second gears (at about 22mph) was very rough and jerky, which made coming to a stop smoothly quite difficult. I noticed it in my car all the time.

Having received my car back from the dealership just this morning, my initial impression is OUTSTANDING. It is now nearly impossible to detect! All vehicles now coming off the assembly line have this software, of course. If you don’t have it, get it the next time your car is in for service—at least if this is a problem in your car. I’m very pleased by it.

Great news! My service manager has a 2009 G37X with the same problem and has had numerous clients complaining about the same issue. Can't wait to get the wife's car updated and see if it solves the problem.

My car has been at the dealership several times for an unrelated problem. In the attempt to diagnose it, the regional tech rep noticed the roughness of the downshift and voluntarily applied the software update.

And only for the X, not the non-X G37 AT?

Does anyone know if the software update is applied w/o asking at the service dept, or do I have to specifically make the request?

I don't know if it's only for the X--that's what I have so I can only speak to it. And I would suggest that you ask for the update, rather than leave it to the service technician. No harm in asking.

The Rever,

I called my local Infiniti Dealer Service Manager today about the AT flash to fix the 3-2 downshift...He knows of the problem because of other customers complaining about the issue...I sent him this thread and he checked his resources and said that there was no new update for him to "download" from Infiniti...Any insight on when the masses will get this fix??

Thanks,

-M
