Quote: I think someone asked before...but under normal, dry conditions doesn't the X use 100% RWD anyway?
Only at medium/high speed. From a total stop, it will be awd until it reach I guess around 25MPH.

It is 12mph or 19kph and only when the snow switch is on. Other than that the x is RWD till it detects slip.

No issue. According to the service manual from INFINITI, the car run in what they call "safe mode" by desactivating TOTALLY the front end. I don't see what can go wrong with this. the G35X is 100% RWD on ideal condition. This only trick the front end so you are ALWAY'S in RWD regardless of road condition. The VDC button still work

Gears change are not as smooth as usual in RWD mode. Probably because the tranny of the AWD is not calibrated the same way than a RWD drivetrain. Other than that, no problem yet. But I don't use these days, it's winter with a lot of snow here and I HIGHLY appreciate my X

Excuse my ignorance, but why would you buy an x and turn it into a rwd only???

ONLY because I have the opportunities to do so. Tired of thoses question. I like my X, I will alway's like my X, and will not buy a rwd because I live in a country with lot of snow. But in summer I like rwd. Is that a good answer?

Quote: This is a thread on how to convert an AWD to RWD. No matter what the reason is. My X is 99.99% (almost all the time) on AWD mode. So this means I love it like that. But I also like the RWD on some condition. My car is not under any warranty and modding cars is my passion and just wanted to share this here.
You have the choice to buy either a RWD or AWD G35/G37. Anybody do what they want and I do like my car the way it is with this mod.
I am a RWD manual transmission nut (eg Lamborghini Gallardo Valentino Balboni edition), and not so much an AWD flappy paddle gearbox guy (eg Lamborghini Gallardo 560-4 E-Gear). I am old school, I enjoy powersliding and heel-toeing and all of that jazz.

That said, I love the attitude borderline has about this mod. He did it cuz it's cool and it's fun and he can, and he's not tellin' anyone else they should do it or that they should have an X or an S or whatever. He's just puttin' a cool find out on a forum upon which other similar folks might get somethin' out of it. Much respect.
