Injen SP1997 Cold Air Intake for 07 G35 Sedan

I am thinking pretty seriously about buying and installing an Injen SP1997 cold air intake for my 07 G35 Sedan and am wondering if anyone has installed one already. If so, are there noticeable improvements? Any other recommendations will be appreciated as well.

Thanks,
$cott

You posted this twice, if you didn't know.

Well to answer your question, intakes in general do not give you any noticeable improvements. It's just there to look nice and sound nice

I am going to slightly modify my stock airboxes for a little more sound and flow, I will spend my $300 towards a catback...

I think your better off changing the filters. Catback? As in HFC?

Catback as in exhaust system. I am not sure if I want to mess with changing out the cats on this G or not yet. I put RTPs on my 350z and had a bunch of headaches.

Injen SP1997 cold air intake for 07 G35 Sedan

Based on some of the responses to this thread as well as other postings in the forum, it seems that stock air cleaner intakes are better than the Injen SP1997 for performance. If I install the Injen Cold Air, will it decrease performance?
Thanks for all of the help so far,
$cott

I would recommend doing some more reading and searching. I have purchased a cold air intake for almost every car I've ever owned but after reading reviews on this site I have made the decision to save the money. From what I have gathered, the stock design is engineered very well and aftermarket intakes alone will not yield much gain. On the othear hand it depends on how far you are going to go with your G; if you did Intake, HFCs, and exhaust with a tuner then it would be worth it. For basic every day drivers or simple bolt-ons I would not bother with the intake....my .02

If your looking for gains it's not much to begin with. On the other threads here, some people have lost horsepower with certain intakes. However it all differs on every car. I have Fujita SRI's on my car and people claim that it loses power.

Intakes on G's are generally just for sound and looks as i said earlier.

I made my own CAI. It is hard to verify and gains, but the top 1000 rpms of the rev range seem to pull faster. $300 for a catback seems a little low. Used...maybe.

been there, done that!

Just change your stock boxes filters, put some catback with hfcs (FI) and reflash.
That will get you some decent power.

Well, if you like the injen cold air intake you can always get it. It would pretty up the engine bay. You can do a dyno from stock to injen (if you don't have other mods) and see if their is a gain or not.

I just installed these on my 07 G35. Do I need to flash the ECU? If so is it the standard remove the negative and hold the brake pedal 10 sec?

I put the k&n intake on my car and I regret it. I had my car dyno'd and it needs a tune badly. I am thinking seriously about putting the stock air boxes back on. I also have done a custom HFC this week. $375 installed. The dual intake looks sick but makes my car run rich as hell I think.

is it really that much ?!

anyways, running rich cud lead to a serious problem, your pistons may break !
you should tune ur car or you may go back to stock. ( BTW . . running rich is a good sign tho, u wud get nice gain after tune )
