P0014

Hi Guys,
Recently my SES light came on and the code its throwing is P0014. I tried searching but cannot narrow it down which part needs to be replaced.

The dealership states that replacing the Valve Timing Cover (13040-JK28A) will fix it.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Thanks for your input. I did replace that part and the SES light is now gone. Appreciate you confirming that because I ended up ordering the part online and had a local shop install it.

Which parts did you replace, the valve timing cover or the solenoids ????????

If you did both, did you possibly do them separately so you could tell which one actually fixed it?

I would be curious to know if it was the combination as well. I threw the same code and replaced the cover/sprocket..issue continues. Apparently they claim the ecu was damaged however if I find its the solenoid it will be worth the purchase. As of right now the bank 1 VTC cover is not plugged and it drives well...just missing a few horses. Any input would be cool.

Yeah, it actually looks like that part number includes the cover and the solenoid. The solenoid is available separately though, for about 1/3 of the cost (183 vs. 525). It would be well worth it to know which is truly causing it.

If you replaced it yourself and the problem continues it is because the dealer will have to do a exhaust valve timing relearn procedure. To my knowledge it can only be done with a Consult 3 scanner

If the relearn has not been completed the exhaust retarder(vtc cover) that you replaced will not work properly

I'm having codes P0014 and P0024 on my 2007 G35 Journey and live in Southern California. Where did you have the work done? How much did it cost? Did they do the relearn procedure? Any help is appreciated.

I know this is old but I'm having a P0024 code come on for camshaft position timing. I have an 08 G35 AWD which side is bank 1 and what side is bank 2?
I heard bank two is driver side and when I go in to check I see 2 sensors side by side behind the throttle body

Bank 1 is always the side that has cylinder number 1 (for ignition purposes). In the case of our vehicles cylinder one is the front driver side cylinder.

Bank1 = driver
Bank2 = passenger

It can vary from one manufacturer to the next, when in doubt look up the firing order for the correct answer.

I know this is an old thread but I am having the same p0014 code in my 2008 g35. My scanner says 'B' cam shaft position- timing over advanced or system performance. Is B side drivers and passenger? i want to order the right part. Any help would be appreciated. I cant locate video on it and am wrenching it myself.

Your scanner is giving you misleading information. Refer to the FSM for correct info.
