Haha, if a company says their part will give you 'up to 23 HP' that means about 2-3 HP. Haha see what I did there? Besides, that's a 370z. It most likely has more support for breathing than the G35. I don't believe that number for a second.

Edit: OK, at the bottom it says 'race headers replace the stock catalytic converters'. That's where your HP is coming from. Not from the headers.

Every car I've ever owned has had long tube headers on it. Even my Escort GT (showing my age). They were always faster than those who went "shorty with a test pipe" or other configurations. If part of the gain is from no cat, then so be it. But to say they are a waste of time or are equivalent to a shorty in gains makes me question how informed you may be.

LTs on the VQ35 and HR37s are showing some damn good gains. It's proven

So! Long tubes have a better gas Scavenging affect. Which is the same affect that the ART pipes have. But the long tube give more hp/tq in the mid to high rpm range, but are cars max hp/tq is at higher rpm range, no? So would the G befit better from shorty and a set of ART pipes, since they both improve the low range hp/tq? Or is my thinking phucked up

ART pipes can't scavenge as well as LTs. LTs have the benefit of 3 exhaust signals from each header while the ART pipes can only use 2.

Ha! Well, let's see. The headers you're talking about are shown to give "23" HP to a 370z by getting rid of the cats. Long tube headers do give a SLIGHT advantage over shorty headers (a measurable if unnoticeable amount) in the HP department where as short headers with art pipes would actually give you an advantage in the TQ dept. Now, being as informed as I am, I know that TQ is the real world usable power that you're hoping to feel when you hit the gas, while HP is merely a figure head number that sells cars.

The advantage you would see using long tube headers would be in the 100mph+ range whereas the usable TQ you'd see from a shorty header would be useful from off the line. I will again reiterate, that the main part of the performance gain that you would notice from long tubes would not be from their scavenging ability, but the deletion of the cats (which I think is socially irresponsible, but I digress. That's another thread).

You can't make up the tq that LTs give by using shorties and art pipes. LTs greatly help the low end tq dept.

Installed today. Made a new brace out of .25 by 2 inch aluminum. And yes, I was using a DE y-pipe before. The brace has calmed down the noise considerably.
