The consensus is if there’s any hiccup with the cleaning process that causes high idle, the only fix is a) confirm s/w version - “C” seems to be the minimum required - update to “C” if necessary then b) perform the relearn process.

It appears that version “C” was a rolling update during the ‘07 model year. Early models did not come from the factory with it but later models did. All ‘08 and later models have it.

Thanks, I believe thats what the dealership did to remedy my high/surging idle after TB cleaning.

Now with the newer ECM reflash, it will probably be much easier to complete the relearn should the need arise.

It would be nice if folks would chime in with their ECM part number and whether or not they were able to perform the idle air recalibration without the dealership reflash. Would help a lot of folks in the future with troubleshooting if they could simply check the P/N of their ECM and know whether or not they would require the flash to newer software.

There is no way outside of Consult / Uprev to tell which revision software is currently on the ECM right?

I have the paid version of NDS (can't remember what it gives beyond what the free version does) but I'll try and take a look in the next few days and see if it tells me anything.

NDS tells me "ECU No: 1NA8D"

Wonder if "NA" means North America ?

just my 2 cents here , i’ve been struggling with the throttle problems the whole weekend, my nephew bought a v36 sedan vq35hr , i have a v35 sedan vq35de and when i clean my throttle body i don’t have any of these problems at all but this past weekend i was doing maintenance on his car , it had a pretty big carbon build up on the throttles and after cleaning them all went to **** , i was dealing with super high idle and surging at the same time , i was able to take the idle down around 1100 rpm but that wasn’t good enough of course, and after reading the battery thing i decided to give it a try, i get my jumper cables and connect my car to his car , mine was on the whole time , that was the only way i could have his battery at around 13-13.2 volts constant, after that i just start the 3 procedures (on and off thing x2 / on and then off immediately / and the whole process for the idle relearn) after finishing the idle relearn i start the car and VOULA ( i got it ) , the car idles perfect between 600-700 rpm , just a quick reminder before going to a dealer or anywhere else, give this a try first

Cool, it's definitely possible an ecm reflash isn't required. However it's also possible the new version C program will complete the relearn at any voltage as I've heard newer or flashed vehicles can relearn much easier than 07's still on the original version A.

Use the Nissan Data Scan app. I have an '08 and this is 100% speculation, but maybe I have version "D" based on what NDS reports (??).

Also, I may have reported this earlier/elsewhere, but when doing the various relearn steps, especially the idle relearn, set the parking brake ON. On a manual transmission, this is one of the prerequisites and if I use NDS to do the idle relearn, it will fail consistently if it's NOT set.

Not sure it can be read properly without the dealer consult system. I just had mine reflased to C last year so I believe that's the newest. The other issue is with the idle near 2000rpm that may be out of the range for the computer to complete a relearn.

At any rate not touching the TBs anymore unless I have to as an absolute last resort, no way no how...even infiniti is sketchy on doing ecm reflashes with newer Q50's. I was told several failed resulting in a bricked ECU and an undriveable car.
