Break-In Schedule
Damn! It's going to take me forever to reach 1500Mi for break-In! I live like 10min away from work, and it's like 3miles each way! And I live on an Island, and ca't go too far like you guys can or I'll Hit Water and SINK! LMAO! Man I am going to half to dig Deep to not Drive it like a nut and feel the full effect! I'll just half to remember how the Car I test drove felt, and maybe that will hold me till I break her in! PRAY FOR ME! LOL
Break in proceedure........
The way I drive a new car is the way I normally drive......since it's new I
haven't figured out how to use cruise control, so I don't. The CD player
is empty so that's not working....haha This is of course on the way home
from the dealership! At 1K miles I always dump the break-in oil and get
enough Mobil 1 and filter to keep it happy. Just drive your new car like
you would on any given day and enjoy!

I passed break-in last week and have been opening it up more this week. I'm impressed with the way the stability control gives you some leaway to get a bit of wheel spin without cutting power dramatically. The first generation system that I had on my last BWM would abruptly cut power back as soon as I got any wheel-spin.
I got into the habit of immediatly turning it off as soon as I got into the car because of how intrusive it was. With the G35, I hardly even notice it, cept for the flashing yellow slip light on the dash. When it does reduce power, it seems to do it very smoothly.

Purchased Feb 28 with 140 miles already on the car. I have 600 now. Planning on driving from Atlanta to Tampa round trip(leave Mar 19, return 23rd). I should have 1000 miles on the car before I start the trip .
I normally like to drive 80-100 on the highway. But I am thinking of going 65-75 all the way without cruise control when going there. ANd then coming back, I will probably have 1600 miles on the car , so maybe i can go 65-80 all the way. The trip is 480 miles each way. Is it too much for the car?
I sure hope my front grill can withstand the trip. I am getting nervous reading all the grill complaints.

I also eventually switch over to synthetic. I have heard the same as you about synthetic messing up the break in process. Something about "mineral" oil.

oh, and the owners manual says nothing about mineral vs synthetic, but personally i'd say if you're going to stick to the regular changing schedule then go with mineral since you'll save some money. regarding weight, the owners manual says 5w30, but if you're somewhere that gets really hot or really cold, you may want to adjust that slightly.
I am devastated! I have less then 200 miles on my car, and this is the first time I have even heard about engine breakin. My dealer went over the stupid accessories, but not engine breakin!
Is it to late for me? I don't think I have been driving hard, but I can't guarantee that I haven't gone WOT, or above 4000 RPM.
What should I do
