double layer of tint??

double layer of tint??

so i have 15% tint on my windows...but its not dark enough. i am going to put on another layer of tint that is 5%...i have heard about ppl doing this without problems...but b4 i do it i wanted to know if anyone has any opinions about it...good or bad? also do you guys know roughly what my percentage will measure out to if i do this?? let me know guys...thanks!

OK ... I'll ask ... why not just yank off the 15% layer and have the shop put in the tint you want? I would think it is the same cost.

Why not just spray paint them black? 15% plus 5% will give you about a 3% light entry; dangerous! I'd suggest just using black eletrical tape or black out paint. You'll get the same effect and it'll save you some money. I can't imagine it would be less safe to pedestrians than 3% film.

I have double layers of 5% equaling to about 1%. No problems so far.

^thanks....do you have your front windshield tinted? if so how dark?

yes, 50% with a 5% strip.

^oh ok i got 35% on the front. so you have never had issues with seeing at night and stuff with double layer tint? also what kind of film are you using?

it actually cost a lot more. shops in my area charge an arm and a leg to remove film. and plus my friend who just moved from cali that worked at a tint shop tinting cars for about 10 years is doing it for me for free...im just hooking him up with a free hotel room, lol.

Removing film requires a heat gun or hair dryer and about 15 minutes of your time.
Where's the big expense in film removal?
