pulling the headliner

I got to get to my shark fin. Has anyone pulled down the headliner? Does it just pop right off? Do I need to do the sides first?

Do you need to get to the connector or do you just need to remove the fin to paint or something?

The exterior fin is a cover that can be popped off the base, if that's what you need.

(haven't done it myself though)

^ in that case popping the cover would be a better option like intgr said, this will allow you to let some excess vinyl go under the cover and look like a clean install, no need to go through the hassle of taking the headliner off which is said to be a pita.

Here's my DIY. It should be pretty similar for a sedan.

What is the process to pop off the shark fin? I also want to install a vinyl overlay on my roof and want to pop off the shark fin to make this process a little easier/cleaner.
