Personally, I think this is total bs. Snow performance is determined by tread-width, and tire compound. Profile height makes zero difference. In real world, it might make difference, because higher profile tires, tend to have narrower tread-widths...

with that being the case, I have a story from last winter....

My FWD Acura TL, wearing stock 235/45-17 All/Season tires, got stuck in the snow... I couldn't even get the stupid car up my inclined driveway without first shoveling the snow from the driveway...

However, I found it funny that my RWD G35 Coupe, wearing 275/40-18 Michelin Pilot Sport All/Season tires, actually made it up my snow covered inclined driveway just fine, without shoveling it.

Could be luck, I don't know. But I'm just saying that not all RWD configurations "suck" in the snow.
