Tire Advice

Before the search Police go on read alert I have done a search and the evidence leans towards getting the Toyo RA1's, but I have also heard that they are rather loud. I need to replace dissapointing (and expensive AND poor wearing Bridgstone REO950A's...only 8k ON THE BACK) that came stock on my car. Actually, they would be a decent tire if they cost 30% less.

I used to run the PS2's on my GT2. They are a good all around tire, but I can't justify spending $1300 dollars plus for a set of the PS2's for my DD.

As mentioned,I have been thinking of getting the Toyo RA1 since they, according to the reviews on this site, are better and cheaper than the Bridgstone's. However, I am open to any advice for a lightly modded 06 MT that needs 245/40/19 on the back and 225/40/19 on the front?

I really love my G35 as a daily driver, but hate the crappy tire choices.

EDIT: I am leaning towards the Toyo's but how are they in the rain?

not to sure if ur rear size u mentioned is right i am prett sure u meant to say 225/40/20. i would say go with the Ra1. i have those. my car is stock and don't rally push it. as far as the rain, i drive a lot in the rain since its summer time and they have never given me any prob, but then again i do not realy push my stock car.

OOps, I meant 19's on the front...fixed.

Thanks. Some have said that the Toyo's are not as good as the PS2's (a very good rain tire) but has anyone compared them to the Bridgestones in the rain?

Edit:I guess it does not matter since it seems that the RA1's don't come in a 19. However, the Proxes TR1 do come in my size. Has anyone tried the TR1's?
They look good and I can get 4 tires for $880.

I agree, the PS2's would be the best choice, but the TR1, based upon the research I have done, are a very good and economical second choice.

Hi ya Doc..........!

If you'll take the time to read what the Bridgestones have written on the
sidewall it probably reads under wear 140. I got less than 10K mile out of
my set. If, you want a quality tire that's quiet and has great traction wet
or dry buy Michelins Sports. One of our sponsors is TD4L check them out!

The Toyo RA1 is an r-compound tire. Why would you run those on the street?

So you meant T1R, not RA1. It's a good tire. Also look into the Falken FK452. It has great reviews on here...

If you read all of my posts you will see that I went from looking at the RA1 to deciding on the T1R. I also looked at the Falken, a heck of a tire for the price, but not as god as the Toyo, which is around $800 delivered.

t1r's FTW!!! I love mine, try www.edgeracing.com for prices too. When I purchased my first set, they had the lowest price of anybody . . . and I'm about to need some new rears
B.T.W. living in washington state, i can tell you from a lot of experience that the t1r wet performance is great!!

+1...Toyo T1-R's are great (in the rain too) (I'm running them) and I'm contemplating trying out the FK452's for my next set.
