Drag radials for daily driving

Does anyone here use their car as a daily driver w/ drag radials on the rear? I am thinking about buying new rims and putting drag radial on the rear and using my car as a daily driver. I was thinking about flat drag radials like Hoosier but I want some that matches the profile of my future front street tires.

I burn out a lot unintentially. I'm thinking whats the point of buying street tires and going through a set every 6 months when I can have drag radials on the rear and not worry about buying new tires for the rear for a while.

I know it will be risky in the rain but that's a something I'll deal with.

you'd have to get DOT approved R-compounds if you're gonna drive it on the street. And you'll burn through a set of drag radials alot faster daily driving than you would a normal tire.

I thought most could take a few quater mile passes? By a few I mean at least 50 passes? No?

Is the Nitto NT555R is a good drag radial? I heard they last a while? Anyone know?

I want some tires I can trash daily for at least a year. Anyone have any suggestions?

I used to have a Mustang Cobra come in to my work and he would run 555R's on the rear with 555's on the front and he drove it daily like that. Unless you only drive 10k miles a year, dont expect a set of Drag radials to last an entire year.

FWIW, i dont know your style of driving, if you just like straight line or if you take corners fast as well, but the 555R's are for dragging and the 555RII's are for road racing.

Also... the size selection is very very limited on those tires. What wheels are you planning on running with the drags??

theyre gonna finish pretty quick. and they will burn out on the street too if theyre not warmed up, or if its not hot as hell out. i know i wouldnt go far with DR's on the street, id be launching at every light. Just get a cheaper set of street tires.

Do Luck double sixes in 18x10.5 for the rear if they fit and 18x9 for the front.
They not cheap but they rare and they are discontinued.

i had a set of MT ET streets on the rear of my 03 cobra...excellent tires but there not designed to last(maybe thats just because i was driving) and not built for the elements at all, it gets very interesting in the rain...but they do hook ...ive heard the Nittos 555rs are much better in the rain so most likely a better choice for a DD.....

also rememebr that drag radials only hook after a hard warmup/burnout. They will be s--t for normal driving with less traction than street tires. sell your stockers and get a dedicated set of track tires for the rear.
