Car Humming at High Speeds
Car Humming at High Speeds
Hi everyone,
I was driving my car, and it makes "humming / droning" sounds between 80-85MPH and also sometimes from 70-80MPH. It is most noticeable at 80-85MPH. But it stops once I drive above 85PMH and it doesnt make the sounds below 70MPH. Do you guys have any idea why and what might be the issue? Alignment? Tires? Rotors? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's most likely your tires... If you apply the brakes does the sound change? If not, probably not rotors. And if it's not wobbling/shaking, probably not alignment. What tires do you have? On what wheels?
I'm not sure about the sound when applying brakes. I'll try that. The car is not wobbling or shaking. I currently have the Michelin Pilot Sports on the front. I'd say they have about 25% tread left. Could that be it?
THanks for the help so far...

great. =(
what if i took the wheels to a shop and had them flip the front two tires? the tires still have some tread, just the inner tread is worn down. I would think that if I flipped the front tires...i could get some more life out of em. good idea...or no?

you could do that, but not recomendable these tires are directional and are designed to only spin one way
