Replacing stock 19 tires on 2005 Coupe
Replacing stock 19 tires on 2005 Coupe
So I just hit 15,000 miles on my '05 coupe and the stock Bridgestones that came with the car are completely shot. I really like the performance Bridgestones but the tire wear is just terrible. I tend to be very aggressive around corners and it shows on the inside of my front tires.
I looked on tirerack and I'm not too keen on spending $1200 for bridgestones again only to find that they will be going in another 15k miles. Does anyone have any experience with other tires that are more afforable (perhaps $900 or less for the 4?). My biggest concerns are with traction and gripping the road around turns and minimal road noise level.
I was looking at the Kumho Ecsta SPT - does anyone have any experience with other tires or opinions?
Thanks,

Hey I'm also looking at the Kumho's too... for all 4 in staggered size... its gonna cost $860 or something including installation fee and other random stuff like disposing the old tire. i hope someone replies to this thread asap so i can decide whether i wanna buy these tires. goodluck man
I've been running the Kumhos SPTs on a 19" wheel (245 fronts / 275 rears) for about 3 weeks now. So far, I've been really really happy. They ride really well due to the softer sidewall. Handling is great with them but you have to run 36 to 38 up front or the tires wants to roll over and understeer a tad in the corner when pushed to the limit. Overall, a great great tire for the price. If you look in Tirerack's reviews, it stomped it's comparative competition and was great on the track, as fast as some Max Performance tires. Above all, it looks great to.
the only problem with the Falkens don't come in the Stock 19" size 225/45/19 and 245/40/19. I ended up going with the Kuhmo Ecsta SPT's. I'll let you know how they are once I get them mounted and balanced.
Toyo T1Rs:
cheaper
queter
offer the same amount of grip
one of the best wet tires out there.
U can get the rears for $350 from me with just 250 miles on them. They are brand new sitting in the garage.

got my kuhmos on and i love them. They are definitely quieter than the bridgestones, but performance wise I havent decided if they outperform. Definitely worth the money though and would buy again.
