275/30/20 Vs. 275/35/20

I recently bought a set of 20" Sevas S-55 and I also bought a set of Nitto NT555 tires. The tires that I purchased are 245/35/20 in the front and 275/30/20 in the rear. I guess I dont understand why you would want a lower profile tire in the rear. I would think you would want a lower profile in the front or the same all the way around.

I did a search and I cant really find anyone running 275/35/20 in the rear on a 10" wide wheel. Is there a reason for this? It seems to that you would want as much tire on the rear wheel as would fit. I understand that if my rear tire was 275/35/20 my speed o would be slightly off, but who cares. Please let me know if there is anything else Im not thinking of, or if there is a reason not to run a larger tire.

your front tire size is wrong, not your rear. your front should be 245/30/20

actually you should be looking for 255/30/20 and 285/30/20 to keep close to the stock sizes.

Not sure what you are driving. I have 275/30 20 on rear and 245/35 20 on front which is perfect for the 07+ sedan. The "30" on the rear is NOT a lower profile tire that the "35" on front, it's exactly the same profile as the front. Google "Aspect Ratio" and you will understand. 30 means, 30% as tall are the tire is wide. 35 is 35% as tall as the tire is wide. A narrower tire needs to have a higher Aspect Ratio to be equally as tall as the rear. I hope that helps.

although his explanation above is pretty good.. your overall diameter in the rear is still smaller than the front.. which is not right.. it should be the other way around... your fronts are really just too big.. it should be around 245/30, 255/30 or 225/35 to keep it close to stock... and the rears are ok.. or if you want you can switch to 285/30 or 255/35 to keep it close to stock

yep im running 2453520's front and 2753520 rear in the nt555 and was wondering the same thing?, i have the tsw 20by10 thruxton's and was wondering why some use a lower profile rear, than in front? is this so they can run wider rears or have more room to correct camber issues?
i also have the eibach pro kit that drops it about an inch or maybe a hair over.. any input would be great on whether this set up is ok.. didnt want to start a new thread so hopefully this one will be revived to answer my questions.. i do need to get the camber adj. kit for the rears is the eibach adj. kit ok? the fronts are dialed. here is a pick.. if i was to correct the neg camber i would definately have to roll the fenders in the rear but no issues right now
