Re: lancer evo brembo brakes
The calipers are all based on the Lotus caliper, but that doesn't make them identical. Externally, the Evo and Sti calipers have the brake fluid routed through an external line, while the G35/350z calipers have the fluid routed internally. The pistons on the G35/350z are 38/44 mm, while on the Evo/Sti I think they were 40/46 mm. Finally, the G35/350z mounting bolts are 10cm apart, while on the Evo and maybe Sti they are about 12.5 cm apart. It is this last point that makes it very very difficult to even get the Evo/Sti caliper mounted on a G35.
I have some red Brembo Lotus calipers on my car, which I was told came off an Evo. But externally, it looks more like a G35/350z caliper with the internal brake fluid routing. And the mounting bolts were 10 cm apart. Otherwise, I would not be able to even mount it onto my car. I'm not sure of the piston sizes, but looking at pics of stock G35 brembo pistons, they look the same. I still have the same pedal effort/travel, just much much reduced fade now. I'm using stock 350z track/G35 6mt brake pads.
