Tire size upgrade on factory 18" sport wheels.

If anyone is interested in making this change, see my earlier post. I should have been more specific in my first post.

Did you put the wider tires on the OEM 18s?

The factory 18s are only 8" wide I think... I could never find a 275 wide tire that would fit no less than a 9" wide rim.

Hi Bigel. I installed the michelin pilot sports in that size and they fit very nicely. The tire shop I deal with is very well versed in size and fit and they were quite pleasantly surprised at how well they fit the stock rim. this rim in fact apears closer to 9 inch when measured although it is described officially as an 8. The tire fits squarely and looks excellent. I thought this was an inexpensive methos of giving her car a more sprty and aggressive stance. One more thing, the sidewall/bead on that particular tire is described as very supple by the shop as compared against other makes.

Hi Leejack
I have been trying to get a nice dry day to post a pic. The weather is good now and I should be able to take a few very soon. I will get some side shots, rear low so you can see rthe fit. I assure you the car looks so much better than one with the stock rubber on the same wheels as we have had it beside one here in vancouver in a parking lot.
Very soon for sure, have a great day.

Thanks Ted, I've been considering this option because I really like the stock wheels but I want a "lower profile" look. I'll be looking for your pics. Thanks

If I follow Ted's suggestion and go to 245/45/18 front and 275/40/18 rear, will my speedometer - odometer be off ?

Hi Fred,
The answer is no. You will have exactly the same od on the rears and a slightly larger od front tire( .7 of an inch I recall, close anyway) You are losing the slight stagger id front to rear thats all and I dont think it matters one bit, the car looks better with the 245 up front anyway.
They do look nice, I will get those pictures you guys, soon!
