negative camber on 03 coupe
I have a 03 coupe and I hydroplaned... yes crashed my car and its getting repaired, so the shop tells me I hydroplaned because I had bald tires. I proceeded to tell them the tires look fine well apparently I did not know this but the 03 Z's and G's had a problem where the tires were "bent in" at the top and Nissan never got around to fixing it. I have taken the time out to draw a picture, yes it is bad but it should get the point
so my question is can you fix this so the tires are flat? of course my pic is over exagarated (spelling)
The point of this thread is to try and fix the issue of the 03 G/Z tire to surface problem

well the early 350z were said to have a problem with the camber and one tire would wear out quicker than the other... The tires have a bit of camber to help in cornering, that's why its a good adiea to replace the tires when you see the sides wearing thin. Keeping the tire properly inflated and under driving conditions you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

Gary I really don't have an 03 G35?.. I guess not. and I guess hydroplaning makes me stupid.. thats cool.
I think there is mass confusion. The crash didn't make the tires bend. The guy at the repair shop made the camber seem like it was bad for the car and Nissan f'ed up. so that answers my questions.

apparently think it is. Any time you slam into a puddle going 60 MPH you're
playing with your car and you did it 3 times....aka Toy. We're aware tires don't bend, no one is confused. Our alignment isn't a Nissan design flaw, although they could have given us a little more adjustment the aftermarket
took car of that. A little common since will keep your car out of the repair
shop, Good Luck Jones.

no Gary on the Highways in Missouri some parts are very old and need to be fixed. I did not go over the puddle 3 times. there were 3 puddles in one lane. First one I hit my back end started to slide to the left, so I proceeded to slowdown with out touching my brake, second puddle was about 15 feet from the first one. same thing still slowing down. finally the last puddle sent me in a complete hydroplane. I don't understand how or why you thought I would want to slam into a puddle.
not trying to come across as rude or start internet fights that are aa waste of time.
I don't see a toy as something that you can kill yourself in or others.

The Z and G were designed to have more negative camber (meaning the top of the tires are further inboard than the bottom) to help with cornering performance and yes, that leads to some accelerated wear on the inner edge of the tire. Still, likely it's just that the whole tread was too worn down, not just the inner edge, and that's what caused you to hydroplane. You have to be very vigilant with keeping your tires at the proper inflation pressures, and to make sure that your tread is at the minimum depth:

2/32 is the minimum depth, but 4/32 is much safer.
As for adjusting camber to be 0 degrees (straight up and down), there might be a slight bit of adjustment in the OEM setup, but not much. You can look into aftermarket upper suspension arms that are adjustable. Just do a google search for "G35 camber" and you'll see a number of options, though none are particularly cheap. Ultimately, though, I don't believe this is necessary - your money is better spent on ensuring your tires have plenty of good tread (>4/32" depth)
