Tread designs are quite different between those. Old Sports being directional and PS2's asymmetrical. Pretty bad combo when mixed, especially in the wet. We don't recommend it.

OK, thanks Neal. Looks like I might need to find a leftover set of original Pilot Sports for now. Or, any other sets of all four you would recommend as good replacements for the OEM Pilot Sports?

Neal, an odd request. Do you guys sell or know where one can source space saver wheels? (i.e. compact spare)

Specifically one that fits over the G37 Sport brakes.

Thanks.

Hi, I am looking for a set of track tires for my 05 6mt. I want to go 17" to lower the cost. I know the following will not be the best setup but the ability to rotate tires and being a lower cost setup appeals to me. However, I just want to make sure that these will actually fit and work. Let me know and also if there are any discounts. Also, what is the weight and offset of the rims? Thanks

I'd stick with those. If you liked the oem Sports you'll really like the PS2 generation.

We carry the temp spare tires, but no wheels.

Great tire for the $. Longer wear, better ride etc. Easier to use as a dd tire compared to the oe B-Stone.

Thanks Neal. One other quesiton - I've found a pair of new Pilot Sports, but they were manufactured in 2006. Is it a bad idea to install 4 year old tires, even if "new"?

Our experience has been that when properly stored and cared for, most street tires have a useful life in service of between six to ten years.

When does "in service" begin? Is it the date of manufacture, or the date they are mounted and used?

Also, I don't really know how they've been stored or cared for, other than that they still have the retail label on them and look to be in good shape.

“In service” is from the date the tires are put into service, such as mounted and balanced on the vehicle and not the date of manufacture.

Wheels will fit fine, but the tire size seems quite short. May toss off VDC.

Hi Neal, I just got a set of Dunlop SP Signature for my '07 Sport from your site, (through Blvd Automotive here) I thought the price was great, hope to get many more miles out of them than I did with the Potenza's the car came with!
