Hello all from Tire Rack
What would you recommend I look into for my situation....
I currently have staggered Toyo T1R's on my supercharged 05' sedan:
245/40 19's front and 275/35 19's rear.
The fronts have about 60% tread left
The rears have less then 10% tread left (aggressive street driving)
The car has been aligned, so the wear is even, not just the inside edge.
I live in California, so snow is not an issue.
It does rain a few weeks of the year, so I don't want a "Summer only" tire. (I do transport my kids in this car on alternate weeks)
The T1R's lasted about 10 months, and about 15k
I do like the "Rim Protector" feature of the T1R's (I think a lot of tires have this now)
Cost is an issue now that I am living off of a single income.
Suggestions?
Thank you,
Ian

Hi Neal,
Time for a winter wheel and tire package. I have a 04 G35 6mt with 18's and Brembo's. Ideally I would like a 17 winter wheel/tire package with Blizzaks and steel wheels. I haven't seen steel as an option yet. You know if this is possible?
Thanks!

Looking for tires for my 08 G35xS currently on the stock Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 255/50 18's. I am leaning toward the Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum but am not sure if I should just get the Dunlops again. What do you guys recommend? Or are there other choices I am not looking at?
I dont want to spend an arm and a leg on tires.

Sorry, haven't found a 17" steel that will fit of those brakes. 90% of the steel wheels we carry are 16" or smaller.

Both are great tires, just depends on what you want out of the tire that's going on the car.
Two completely different tires really. The Dunlop is a summer only sport based tire. Main focus is dry handling, response, and cornering. Not much emphasis on wear, ride, or a/s traction. The Kumho is a touring a/s tire. They are more focused on wear, ride, a/s traction, and quiet.

The Dunlops I have now have 45K miles on them and could still go a while longer. Should I expect more from the Kuhmos? One other thing your site lists the Dunlops as Ultra High Performance All-Season. The fact that are their are no ratings on tire rack or consumer reports makes it that much of a harder decision.
Thanks
That's pretty good on the Dunlop. Over the average really. I'd expect 55K or so out of the Kumho.
My mistake, I thought you meant the standard Sport Maxx summer tire. Didn't see the A1 A/S designation in the original post. That Dunlop is designed as an oe tire for the G. We typically do not test oe tires made in single sizes like that. Thus the reason for no tests/reviews.
I'd still move to the Kumho if you're not an aggressive driver and are looking for more tread life.
