Have a Question/s About Wheels/Tires/Offsets/Camber/Etc? Ask here::
#1441
Alright.
So call me a "noob" in the wheels/tires department (which I most certainly am) but here goes.
I have a stock, 2006 g35.
I have the stock 16inch wheels currently.
I want to upgrade to Volk SF Challenge's. I plan on getting them in the 19" denomination.
Anyways, what I'm here to ask is what will I need to do in order to get the 19's to fit?
Also, I've heard a lot of things such as spacers, offset, etc.
I have no idea what these mean and googling them has only left me oddly afraid of changing my wheels lol.
Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks.

Is your car lowered? If so how much?
Do you want to just bolt the wheels on and go, or are you ok with rolling the fenders? What kind of look are you after?
Do you want staggered wheels or all 4 wheels the same width?
Wheels come in all sorts of widths and offsets so its hard to say what you will need to do in order to get them to fit without knowing more info.

Thinking of spring :/
Okay so here goes, 05 sedan AT not lowered. Got mastercraft winter tires on stock wheels. Good for New England snow.
And are these the 17 inch wheels? I'm not even sure. And yes, that is snow . I'm looking to get new wheels/tires in the spring so i can just put this set back on next winter.
For the new wheels, they will be 19 inches I've decided, when I am searching through on-line stores I see "19x10, 19x9, 19x8.5, 19x8.5, 19x8." Diameter x Width unless i'm mistaken. So at 19 inches how wide can i go safely in the front versus rear, and without rubbing in the front versus the back? (I.e. At what diameter/width can I start to expect some rubbing?)
I also see measurements "5x120, 5x122, 5x114.3." These i'm assuming are the lug nuts. So for this question, simply, what fits?
Next measurements ranging from 35mm, 38mm, 42mm, 45mm. What measurement is this?
I know that an offset is where the hub is mounted to the car, again what ranges could I safely consider getting, considering the rub and all that?
And my last point I need some guidance with is wheel weight and rigidity. What's considered heavy? And besides the brand name, lush finishes, and high price tags, what sets top-name wheels apart? Will cheaper wheels be more likely to crack or break in some way? Or is it just the prestige of saying, "Oh did you see my new Advan AVS Model F15 rims, they cost over $1k a peice. Not to mention tires. I'm doing really well for myself."? I'm not necessarily into that.
Sorry if my questions frustrate some of the more experienced and regular users but any help would be appreciated.
And in case you missed it, my car is NOT lowered. Although I would consider going 1.25 lower someday.
Thanks -Matt.

I think I've found my wheel sizes that I want to purchase. I own a coupe btw.
They are: (Work VS-XX O-Disk)
F: 19 x 9.5 +17
R: 19 x 10.5 +29
My questions:
(1) How much of a fender pull would be needed?
(2) What size tire would be good to pull off a small stretch?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

2) With your setup you can easily fit 245/35 in the front and 275/35 in the rears. If you want to run a bit of a stretch I suggest you go with a slightly lower offset setup.

Looking at getting a 20x11 rear for a coupe.
What's the idea offset for a car that is lowered (but not slammed)? I'm willing to do some fender rolling, and a wee bit of camber, but I absolutely want ZERO rubbing and I don't want to have to warp my rear fenders either.
Thinking of a 275-30-20 tire for a mild stretch.
Perhaps...+20?
