Sedan 225/55/17 Goodyear GS-D3 Update 14k miles

lowered on z suspension, I now have 14k on these tires, I can spin on the 2-3 shift again, getting the slip light if I have VDC on.

they are also starting to wander the road some and are very susceptible to the road contours.

I will most likely not get to 20k miles on two of my tires (the rear two)

i do drive hard, very hard. a normal driver should get 20-25k miles out of them.

I am going with 225/50 instead of 225/55 this next time. saves about 15.00/tire

Do you rotate your tires? You gave the impression that you don't because you said the rears won't make it to 20k. If you don't, that would help them last longer.

I think the wandering might be reduced some too because the shoulder of the front tires wear much faster because of turning.

I rotate every 5000 miles, I get even wear across the tire (my tread depth is the same inside, outside and middle). I check tread depth every time I rotate. It is just that the rears have been on the rears for 9000 miles now and the fronts have been on the fronts for 9000 miles.

I set my rear tires to zero toe in for better traction off the line and in turns. this in turn causes the tires to wear faster.

I will look again but I don't recall seeing any rounding of the shoulder of the tire.

I wasn't looking for advice. I drive hard, tires wear fast, and I spoil my car by keeping good rubber on it. The price you pay to play. I was just stating my experience so others could learn from it. This is pretty standard for me. I could get more life out of my tires if I wanted too, (my Jeep which is offroad 20-30% of the time gets 50-60k out of a set of tires).

the biggest contributing factor is the zero toe on the rear tires, IMO.

Well that's pretty good news I guess as I'm about to get the same tire, albeit in the 225/50 size. If I can get 20K out of them I will be happy. The important thing is they still stick in the dry, right? Are they still quiet? Did you get them from Tire Rack?

I ordered mine through discount tire for the replacement certificate. Next time I would buy from tirerack, as I learned after I bought them they are six ply tires. Six ply tires are normally used off road to guard from rocks and trees and stuff. That would be all the guarantee I would need. Had I know that I would have ordered from tirerack without a road hazard warranty.

They still stick better than OEM, way better. They are louder now on rough roads but are still as quiet as new on good roads. remember I run mine at 45 plus psi, at 35 psi they are just plain QUIET.

They are still as good as all season tires in the wet, but they do wiggle a little in the rain at 80 mph. In conjunction with VDC, I trust them completely even for emergency maneuvers in the rain.

When they were new, I trusted them as above but with VDC off.
