Do spacers ruin aerodynamics?

I was wondering if anyone with some technical knowledge would know whether or not spacers have any effect on the aerodynamic characteristics of the car. Sure it looks cool, but my guess is that when the tire is sticking out beyond the body, it is creating drag.

Anyone have any experience with this?

the guys running those strectched look with negative camber anbd wheel pokage are already sacrficing perfonce for looks... I doubt they'll care about a little drag.

I really cant answer your question because i really dont know if being half an inch to an inch out is enough to cause drag.

Per logic as you said, any protruding surfaces (especially flat to the air flow, which tires would be) will cause drag...

As to "felt effects" I doubt it matters until deep into the speed limiter range and I echo, anyone pushing their tires out that far, probably aren't worried about any speed detraction they get from the setup

everything affects aerodynamics, EVERYTHING.
will it be anything you will ever ntice or need to concern yourself with NO.

the difference is SOOO minute (with correct sized spacer installed that is), that it's not worth the breath to discuss I do not think.

Yes it does. But it's not enough to warrant the thought of not getting them.

Completely negligible. That's something I wouldn't worry about.

reducing parasitic drag is always a plus..

theoretically you'd want flush fitment to reduce seperation bubbles and huge drag vortices along the side of the car.

but then you have to decide at what speed do you want to be optimized for

translation: dont worry about it

the purpose of spacers is to flush the wheels with the body not to jut them out past the body. We're not lowriders.

Mileage is still the same after my spacers. I don't see the affects
