tire size question

i'm not knowledgeable at all when it comes to cars so i had a question regarding tire size..

i recently bought a used 2008 G35 sedan with the 17 inch wheels..

the front two tires are worn pretty badly and are showing some uneven treadwear so i need to replace them. the problem is, the back tires are practically brand new, but the dealer put the "wrong" size on them..

according to the car's specs, 225/55/17 is the correct size, however, the tires on it currently are 225/50/17. it feels like a waste to scrap 2 perfectly good rear tires so that i can get 4 new tires of the proper size so i'm trying to decide what to do.

options:
A. buy two new 225/50/17's on the front and replace the rears with the same later on. ("wrong" size)
B. scrap all four tires and buy four 225/55/17's -- expensive
C. buy two 225/55/17's on the fronts and run with different sized tires for the time being, once the rears wear out, replace with 225/55/17's.. bad for the car?

as a side question--
i'm trying to decide between yokohoma YK520 and michelin pilot sports @ discount tire. what are the pros/cons of the two? the car currently has contiprocontacts on them.

thanks for the help..

Just run 225/50 all around, it's really not that bad.

Running two different sizes isn't a "bad" thing but not recommended. It's almost 1" in total diameter which can screw with your VDC.

I say just run the 225/50s front and back.

Are you happy with how the wheels look with the 225/5017's? Im not sure how they look on your car (do they look too small?) but if the look is ok, then just replace the two worn tires with the same size.

Nothing wrong with running a size other than OEM.

I wouldn't mix/match sizes as they are about an inch different in overall diameter. The 50's make load, even though shorter than normal, so I would buy two more 50 series in the same tire you have now or buy a full set in the correct 55 series.
