235/40-19 tires in front cause vdc issues?

Stock Ray's. I think it's 235/35/19 in the front and 245/45/19 rear but I'd have to look to be certain.

I checked them on 1010tires.com and did the calculations to see what the difference was in rolling diameter and it was greater than 3%.

Here's a link to the calculator...

I have the stock 17inch wheels on with 225/50 all the way around. i ordered some 19x8 wheels and was looking at wrapping them in 245/40 but the wheel calculators say that its above the 3% diameter variance. Im confused because i see alot of people saying they run 245/40/19x8?

What you need to be concerned with is the difference (if there is any) between front and rear tires. If they are all 4 the same size it doesn't matter what specs they have, you'll be fine. Keep the difference in rolling diameter of the tires less than 3% and you're good if you go staggered.

Would 235/35/19 front and 245/40/19 rears work? On oem rays with g/z drop

This isn't true from my experience. I have 245/40 front and 255/40 rear on oem Rays, which is less than 3%, and I have VDC issues when rolling under 10mph. I need to go down to 235/40 in the front for a bigger stagger.

I've run a lot of different sizes on OEM Rays.

The OEM tire size is 225/40f - 245/40r. Yeah, the front tires do look small and has room for more tire.

I tried a square set-up, but it rubbed on the inner fender liner for me at the track and max compression. May not be an issue for those that never see the track.

My set-up now with Michelin PSS (best street tires I've had BTW) is 245/35f-245/40r. Almost square, but no rub in front. For those that don't know, I've run this set-up numerous times at the Nurburgring and there is noticeably less understeer with the 245/35 up front.

No VDC issues and to be honest, I think 245/35f should have been the OEM size.

Quote: I'm considering going from 225/40-19 tires in the front to 235/40-19 because the 225's look too small and skinny on the Rays wheels. Just want to be sure there won't be any problems with the vdc if I do this. The rear tires will remain 245/35-19.
Thanks
You could easily run 235s in front, even 245/35X19 if you wanted to without issues...Gary

Then you might have other issues going on. I've been a member here for 5 years and haven't heard of 1 member having issues as long as they follow the 3% rule.

Yup, I'm staggered but the tires sizes have the same rolling diameter, so essentially a square setup as far as the VDC is concerned. No problems at all.

That may be true. I have an SPC front camber kit with shims installed. Could improper installation of shims/relocation of the sensor be causing this problem?

Of course. The shop that installed my shims actually damaged the tone ring on one of the hubs, so my ABS was going crazy. No more issues after replacing the hub and properly adjusting the gap of the sensors myself (lost trust in that mechanic).

I ran 235/35 front for a while but they looked small in the front wheelwell. Jairen's suggestion of 245/35 front is just right, IMO.
