these brakes suck
i have had my car for 10506 miles and i went to get my car checked out for service and they told me i damaged my rotors and brake pads. they are charging me $3267.53 to fix my car. Does anyone think there is a way of getting around this. Is this too expensive or the right price? need your opinions.
G35 coupe 6mt Brembos 10506 miles.

Sounds kind of expensive. I believe that you can probably buy the rotors and pads online cheaper...you just will need someone to help you remove and bleed the brakes.
Funny though...I have 34K miles and so far (knock on wood) brakes are okay.
Check with the shop...there might be a TSB on them and the replacement will be free of charge. A friend of mine had his replaced for free due to abnormal wear.

i have 13000 miles on my car now and am on my 3rd set of brake pads and my rotors have been resurfaced twice and it was all under mostly normal driving...i guess the dealership knows our brakes suck because everytime, they did this all for free...i remember reading somethine about a brake lawsuit for FL and CA or somethin?? you might want to look into that
That's suck. I got noise from front since first time I drove my car,but it was a kind of minimal vibration and noise, which I could bare with. After a long trip to another province, I had noticed the situation began more serious. Everytime I took brake even not hard braking, I could feel vibration which shaking the head of my car,it was a really bad experience. I took my car to local inifniti dealer, they provide great service but not great job. According to the service manager, I was told that I have rotor distortion in the front, they have to pull out two front rotors and fix the problem, but few weeks after,WTF,I think my car was undrivable. Whole car body is shaking and something knocked brake pedal when everythime I stepped on it. after second service check, I was told that they will change pads, tires and rotors in the front, and it is totally free. The total price would be over 3000 canadian dollars. I was really happy, becaue I have 16000 kilometer right now, I will be replace the pads and tires after 20000 kilometers. That's saving huge amount.
All non-Brembo brakes are covered under warranty for 3 yrs or 36,000 miles....I do not believe the Brembos fall under this warranty unfortunately.
I had my front rotors and pads and rear rotors re-surfaced and new pads at 19,000 miles....I plan on having all four rotors and new pads replace before the 36,000 mile time expires....
That still sounds very expensive for the replacements....

They are ripping you off. There is no way a set of rotors and pads are going to cost anywhere near that amount of money.
Front pads $145
Rear pads $125
Rotors $900
Total $1,170 + your labor to install << $3,300.
You can certainly get parts for even less than I posted above, my figures are conservative. Unless your dealer is charging $2,000 for installation, they are trying to screw you.
I would get their estimate in writing. Make sure they itemize all their items. Get a second (and maybe 3rd) price from another dealer/brake installer. It should be far less than the dealer you are currently dealing with. You might want to report those guys to the BBB after this.

There are a ton of rotor/pad combos you can use. Also a bunch of VERY good big brake kits that you could buy (Wilwood, Stoptech, Project Mu, etc.). Can't really give you a number of hours on the brake install, but as far as do it your self stuff brake installs aren't too bad.
Again I'd suggest you go to a professional shop and have them give you another estimate because something smells fishy with your dealer's estimate (unless there's more damage than might have been told to you).
BBB is the better business bureau. If the other quotes are way out of line with your dealers (as in very low compared to your dealer's), you might want to also take this up with your State's Attorney General (it's a bit extreme, but it really seems to me like these guys are extremely shady).
Also I notice how you are in Florida, there's a Florida club that you might want to talk to. Someone over there should be able to help you out with prices/places in your location.
Good luck.
My .02 would be to get the new Stoptech 1 piece rotors for around $550 (thats for all four rotors) and get the OEM brembo brake pads for less than $130 (thats for all four pads) and DIY or have a brake shop put them in. It shouldn't take a competent shop much more than an hour a corner to swap them out (~$250-$400 in labor depending on labor rates).
You can get the stuff at Performance Nissan. Talk to Jason.

Even though you used non infiniti brakes i would still talk with the dealership or infiniti to let them understand that there is a warranty in affect for 36k miles or 3 years. You went on your own and had better brakes installed and you paid for it, thus you saved them money by not having infiniti replace the pads and rotors. don't back off, give them a good argument. Also let them know and understand what the average life is on brembo brakes compared to our infiniti brakes. You were saving them money, since infiniti would probably of replaced 2, 3 or 4 sets of brakes and rotors on Warranty. So again you saved them money by buying your own brakes and by infiniti not needing to replace brakes under warranty.
Also why are they saying you damaged the pads and rotors what is the cause for the damage? Again don't back down, i believe the law suit or civil suit will be for all states not just fl or ca.
let me know how you made out. email me at donzineal@aol.com
