*NOOB* Will I have a problem with using diff. tire brand/models in the front vs back?
Hey guys I am thinking about putting Toyo Proxes 225/45 18 in the front and Falken Azenis st115 245/45 18 in the back since my stock michelins are dead. Is there any potential problems with using diff. tire brand/models in the front vs. back? Just wanted to make sure before i buy. Sorry for the noobness. Thanks alot guys
omar- on street, you're probably okay.
drive conservatively the first 100miles or so to get the feel of your setup.
Using different tires front and back is not necessariy a bad thing. it's basically
similar to using different spring rates or swaybar rates on the back vs stock or
the one you were using before.
but keep in mind that tires have different tread patterns that affect
wet traction considerably so drive carefully in the wet until you know
your car's capability....
most people use the same model tires front and back so that it's easier to
adjust other parts of the suspension while keeping the tire performance
constant to tune the car.

Don't do it! As well as the tread problem, there is a possibility (probability) that the sidewalls will have different characteristics as well. This will mess up the handling and the electronics. This is a performance car, and should be run with Performance Tires. Performance tires should only be replaced with the same brand.
BTW, 225/45/18s are a hard size to find. You can replace with 245/40/18. This size has the same outer diameter as the stock tire. Your handling will change with the larger tire up front, it will be more neutral with less understeer. For the rear, you could also put 255/45/18 on to retain some of the understeer. BUT - Use the same brand and model of tire front and rear.

performance car... well, sort of. not really. more of a touring car.
that being said and running on the streets, i say you're fine as long
as you break in the tires and get use to the handling. becareful
in the wet.

i have the stock pilot's in the front and the Azenis's in the back,i cant take turns at 40mph+ becuase my car starts to slide and the VDC light blinks for some reason. Just be careful on turns and you should be alright.
If you're going to use different tire brands front and rear at least keep them within the same category. For example, don't use ultra high performance sticky summer tires on the front and then use touring all-season tires with that are much less sticky on the back.

I used Eagle F1 GSD-3 in the rear with stock michellin front and VDC went crazy at 40. I have also used Potenza S-03's in the rear with stock michellin front and VDC was fine. I say dun take the risk and do it correctly the first time around.
