Took the brakes to the dealership today...

And they said I have 7mm both front and rear!!! They obviously won't get me new pads... however... I squeek like crazy... I mean, almost every time I stop it'll squeak and it's getting to be very annoying...

Please advise what is wrong?! =)

I think its just an on-going problem with the G35. From what the dealer told me, the calipers are designed in such a way that the brake pads retain too much dust on them, and when it gets caked on there, they rub the rotor when pressure is applied, and they sqeeek. You could try changing the pads to something different like Hawk pads or EBC green stuff pads, but i've heard those sqeak as well.

Just gotta bear with it i guess.

Same issue here. My brakes only squeak during light braking . . . so anytime I hear squeaking I push a little harder to get rid of the noise. My dealer described how the dust glazes the pads and that is why they squeak.

My dealer said I had 5mm front and 7mm rear on my pads . . . anyone know what thickness they are OEM? TIA

I'm going in today for this same problem on my 05. The service guy said it's "normal" I asked him on the phone is it normal to sound like I'm driving a 10k kia when stopping?

same as the other guys were told - that they get brake dust caked on them, so they start to squeak. they said they cleaned them and that should help - no squeking so far. 6600 miles on my G
