Tire size & offset help please!

Finally getting ready to buy wheels/tires, but I'm still not much clearer on what tire size is best and what offset I should run. This is for an '05 6MT coupe.

I want to just increase treadwidth an ich per tire, so I wanted to go:

9" (front) 19s / 9.5" (rear) 19s... ...Volk CE28N(s) 9f/10r if it increases available tire choices.

Tires: I want to maintain the same OEM sidewall proportions and, of course, overall diamter. Lets figure OEM Bridgestone RE050A(s) to keep thing simple. If OEM is 225/40 (front) and 245/40 (rear), what's the equivalent for the increased wheel width of 9"(f)/9.5"(r)?

Offset: I'm not into extremely huge lips just for the sake of having them. OEM rim has about 1" to 1.5" of lip. For me, an inch more in front and 1.5" to 2" more in the rear would seem conservatively correct for my taste. So I guess a total lip of 2" to- 2.5" Front and 2.5" to 3.5" Rear. Any suggestions?

well, Volk CE28's don't come in 9" width's. as far as offsets go, with this rim, you can run a +22 all around.

Wow, you can't even special order them in whole sizes?

I plan to stay at stock ride-height. Aren't 9.5 19" on the front going to be a pretty tight fit? What tire size would be as close to stock diameter with the same sidewall height?

9.5 F / 10.5 R seem like complete overkill to me. I'm thinking that the handling characteristics are going to be lost. While overall stick may increase, the break-away characteristics of such wide tires has to be pretty drastic.

I do want to keep the stagger the same, relative to the OEM set-up, to avoid upsetting the car's ballance front to rear.

no, you can actually run 10's in the front with the correct offset, no problem. 9.5" will be fine. 245/35 would be optimal on a 9.5". however, many run a 255/35 as well. you can (i believe so, still), special order. expect for it to be done by 2008 though!!!

best should be 255/35/ => 26 inches overall diameter
and 285/35 => 26.85 overall diameter.

245/35 on the front is slightly small.

I also want to follow the same as you. I hope I can get the Volk Challenge in gunmetal w/ the same wheel sizes for both the front and back.
