Question New 06 Coupe Winter Wheel Question (Promise Not Rehashed)

Hey Guys,
I did a search and found a lot of great information here about Winter Wheel\Tire setups. In all the searching I have not been able to find an answer for this. I have a '06 6MT Coupe coming. When I go to Tirerack I can not select a '06 Coupe from the list of Infiniti cars. I know that the '06 6mt comes with 19" wheels and I ahve the Active Rear Stear package. Can I use a set of 18" or 17" wheel\tires that come up as suggestions on tirerack for the '05 Coupe? If not, what size tires can I go for? Thanks for your help guys.

Yes, you can select an '05 coupe and use the 18" and 17" suggestions from that (I recommend 17)

Can I use factory G35 17" or 18" wheels from 2003\2004\2005 Coupes as well? How about OEM 350Z 17"\18" wheels? Im guessing the answer will be yes to all these scenarios.

Since you do not have brembo's, I believe those are fine.

i had the same problem with my 05... they dont list the 19" package.
however do what i did... just call the sales rep, their number is 888 541 1777. speak to anyone. tell them what you have in your car. and they will work with you on getting you a winter setup. i found this better than browsing the site because some of the wheels are not listed on their site or they wont show up because u have selected a particular option on your car.
whatever the case... best bet is speaking to sales rep. they will tell u whats in their inventory, whats on the way... and will work within your price range.

simple rules:
go with 17" or less for winter setup.
thinner the tires the better.
i went with performance winter tires... and found that the dunlop M3 and LM22's were the best of the lot... my opinion/advice would be to choose one of them.

i am still waiting for my wheels and tires to come.... they will be here wnd week of dec. as i just ordered them

my set up is:
sport edition E3.
front = 225x50x17.7
rear = 225x55x17.7

I bought a set of OEM 17" rims with OEM Goodyear Eagle RS-A. I had them on my 04 5AT coupe last winter and they worked OKAY. I wil see how the 05 6MT does with them. You can use Nissan 350Z wheels as well. Good luck

If you are interested, I just listed my 17" setup for sale on eBay. I sold the car and do not have any use for them anymore. I was extremely happy with their performance.

Any questions, please send me a PM.

Either way good luck in your search for winter gear!

I have the '05 6mt coupe. I found my wheels at tirerack.com under the '05 350z section (larger selection, I found). They are working out very well for me, and it has snowed a lot where I live. I preferred the look of 18's, and they are working out extremely well. See this thread for more details if you wish...

I guess it really depends on who you're lucky enough to talk to at tirerack. Unfortunately, I got the worst person to help answer some really basic questions and all the answers I received were, "umm, yeah, I guess". The guy was clueless and even suggested I didn't know my own car since I told them it came from the factory with 19" wheels. Right now, if you were to go with Dunlop M3 tires, you're out of luck at tirerack as most sizes in 17" are sold out. The Bridgestone LM-22 are still available but are a tad bit more. I ordered 18" Dunlop M3 the other day and received them last night. Size were 225/45/18 all around. There's mixed reviews on going same all around and staggered and a debate on whether or not VDC will work properly. I just went with this setup so I can later on rotate my wheels and if I did get stuck, I plan on turning off VDC to get out anyways. If you were to go staggered, most go with 225/45/18 front & 245/45/18 rear. For 17", 225/50/17 front, 225/55/17 rear. The key is keeping the wheels narrow as possible since in deeper snow, they will cut through the snow rather than float on it and pack it down possibly getting you stuck. If you're worried about brake clearance, get 18" OEM wheels although you don't have brembos now but might get them later on. Of course, 18's will cost you more overall. Happy shopping and if I were you, I'd act quick.

If you're intested in running the OEM 17's and the RS-As (like the poster above), I have mine on sale at e-bay. Auction ends Saturday night.

(the other set of snow tires and wheels went for $850. Nice piece of change!)
