tire set estimate price?

hey guys

was just shopping for tires because i need 4 new ones.. my estimate came to around $1000 ($986).. is that how much you guys pays for tires or am I nuts?

Yea they are expensive. My new set of Pilot Sport 2s just cost me $1300 installed and that was with a discount cus of my job.

It all depends on brand and size... Kumho and Falken are cheap but good for their price, and others with good reputation and racing background like Yoko, BS, Michelin, Pirelli, etc., are expensive but provide more performance in general.

If you want the better quality name brand tires, that sounds about right. The best quote I got for just 2 tires when I was shopping around was like $450 for some BFGoodrich KDW. That was after bluffing them down on the price. I just ended up buying 2 tires from tirerack though. They have a list of tire installers for them. I paid about $290 for 2 cheaper tires and $20 to have them installed. Alot cheaper than what I was quoted from any local tire shop.
