This would be an amazing flagship car for Infiniti. But I see two huge problems.
First 500hp and 600lb/ft of torque claim is pure BS. There is no way Inifniti will put out a VQ that makes more power than their VR.
Second is price. Already a fully loaded Q50S comes in at 55k. The M3 sedan is only 62k with 431 HP / 406 TQ with a much better tranny than Q50. The only way a Q50 can compete with a M3 is to be cheaper. Infiniti will have to sell this beast for around 60k to have a chance.

Not really. The VR costs 4 times as much as the VQ to produce. A VR in the Q50 would put it in the 80k-90k range. Plus a VR in anything except the flagship GT-R would take shine away from their crown achievement. That would be like Chevy putting a LS9 in the Malibu.

NA? Not possible. Turbo VQ? Not at all. If it is an Infiniti, it will be very heavy and have horrible suspension. Even if it does have similar hp numbers as the GT-R, it will not be able to compete with it in any way. There are plenty of G35s with gobs more hp than a GT-R, but still cannot hold a candle to it.
I still hope they actually build it. About time they do something with that pathetic IPL series.

The front end looks very Lexus-ish to me. Or whatever Lexus copied if they copied anything. I lost track of who is copying who nowadays.

You would have said the same thing about the LS7 back in 06, now you can get it in a Z28. GM puts the LSA which is basically an LS9 with a smaller supercharger in the CTS and Camaro. They are also putting a naturally asperated version of the LS9 in the new SS. Nissan would be smart to do the same thing, building more VR motors would lead to lower production costs, especially if the lower tune models were built on an assembly line instead of by hand.
More VRs wouldnt lower production costs since they are hand built by only specially trained employees (less than 20 total). To automate would be very expensive and lower quality, hurting their pride and joy GT-R. Much easier to just slap a turbo on already much cheaper mass produced VQ.
