I'm kind of new to cars since I just purchased my first car a few months ago but I grew up watching my dad work on his camaro and what not. I want to know if its safe to put a bigger engine in my car. And if it is what engine would you recommend?

Safe? Depends how you drive it. Are you a skilled and responsible driver after a few months of experience?

Yes I'm a safe and skilled driver. I've been driving for a few years so I'm not an expert but I do have a little bit of experience. I just recently purchased my own car under my own name for the first time so its a first for me to be soley responsible for any and everything that happens with my car. I try my best to take very good care of it, almost as though as though its my child.

Unless you know how to turn wrenches, rewire a car, swap out a complete drive-train, etc you'll need really deep pockets to pay someone to do the work.

Our cars aren't like a Camaro that had both small and big block V8s in them (1st gen and early 2nd gen) that makes putting a larger engine into it relatively easy.

Here is a thread about putting a VK56 (Titan engine) into a G35 coupe. Look through the thread at the amount of work involved and seriously ask yourself is that something you can do yourself or pay someone boatloads of money to do?

If you are looking for serious performance gains you're better off using a turbo or supercharger to get the power.

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods
Oh scotty where's this thread you speak of??

I pondered being one of the first G sedans to do the VK swap several years ago. Had multiple conversations with Rich from UpRev when I'd be at their shop in Austin about it but he could never give me even a semi-firm price. Over 400HP/475TQ stock with seemingly limitless power possibilities sounded like a good idea back then.

Sorry, thought I'd linked it.

Honestly, I'd do an LS swap if I was going through all that work, much more aftermarket support.

A head/cam/exhaust ls3 will be some great numbers. But any ls swap requires deep Pockets and good mechanic skills. If no skills you better have two deep pockets

LSx swap is probably the most well documented. Between 350Z's and G35's, should be plenty of literature and parts support to get it done. Using a more exotic engine might require some research and customization to fit.

I regret selling my G35 sedan after it blew up. If I still had it, I totally would have just yanked the driveline and done an LSx/6spd swap.
