Carbon fiber hood?

Hello, I am a fairly new owner of a g35 2008 black and I'm looking to getting it into great shape. One of the worst parts of the car is that the good has quite a few scratches and paint chips that I would need to be sanded and repainted to fix. I haven't gotten a quote yet, but my gut is telling me that it will be around 600ish dollars.

Do yall think that just getting a new carbon fiber hood would be a better deal? Ive seen a couple pics and they look pretty cool but I have yet to see one on a black sedan. Does anyone have one with a carbon fiber hood? Also what would your opinion be? Get a new hood or repaint the old OEM one?

I would first check for a used OEM one in your color or just find a less expensive painter. Carbon hoods look great but I always worry about the the fitment and latches..

If you want carbon fiber hood, look at the VIS. I almost got it for my car long time ago.

Alright, I got the quote for sanding priming and painting the hood for 550. Is that a good deal? Still debating the carbon fiber hood. Any luck on finding a pic of a black g35 with carbon hood?

If it is a reputable shop and they use quality paint like DuPont/PPG paint then it seems fair.

I paid 500 to have my roof redone last year. I should do my hood too, lot of touch up spots on it. Drives me nuts.

You can see some hoods on google images.. it looks like it probably wont run you more than a few hundred extra over your quote.

Imo if you get a carbon fiber hood just leave it carbon fiber. It really depends on the look you want though.

If you're going to paint it, why even bother? The slight weight savings, IMO, doesn't outweigh the potential drawbacks (possibly less secure, fitment, etc).

Also, unless your car is heavily modified, looks wise, then I think it'll look out of place.
