I'm not sure if it will be a hit or not. I don't like how they use the rear quarter window from the G

I disagree, and news about the new altima is pretty old news at this point. The new altima won't have the power plant of the new coupe, it wont be as nice looking or feeling. the company wont suffer because nissan has relatively nothing to loose from a customer whom is perplexed about whether to by a new altima or a G. there is a reason that the article is is titled "Nissan Altima coupe - Poor Man's G35. Altimas are crap and have been crap. They can't steel the G's greatness.

What's wrong with you people, it's a very good looking car and will probably have a nicer interior than pre-07 G35s. Stop being so insecure about the little Nissan cousin the G35 has and appreaciate the forward Nissan design. Sheesh.

Sad to see that Nissan is doing this. This reminds me a lot of how the Lexus SC430/Toyota Solara development was like. Back with the 1st gen Solara's, those were really nice cars, almost to the point where people got them and felt just as good about them as SC400 owners. Coming from a 2002 Altima myself, I'm actually happy to see a coupe version come out. Perhaps enough to the point that when I can afford to, I may want to get a 4 banger version of that just as a daily driver. I can easily do my 170 mile daily commute in that thing and still have a G feel to it. But then again, we'll have to see when it comes to production. I doubt it'll be anything like the G (performance anyways).

It's FWD.... and our car has been out on the market for years now. It was bound to happen. Just hope our 2nd generation G will be better...faster.. etc.

I think it's ugly and I don't think it bears much resemblance to the G. No matter, the 2 cars are in different classes and won't likely be cross-shopped due to price and feature set (fwd vs. rwd most notably).

Unlike how Nissan cannibalized the Maxima with the Altima, I don't see that happeneing here.

The new Altima Coupe and the current G35 coupe actually have a lot of resemblance. However, after looking closer at those pics, honestly... it looks like a cross of G35, Scion tC, and Pontiac G6. No doubt, the G35 influence is what makes that car look great despite a lot of people saying they hate it. The tail lights are a little extreme for my tastes, but look at the new G35 coupe concept. They're going to be somewhat similar to that too. When I saw the actual release info on this, my heart sank, don't get me wrong. But you have to admit, Nissan is doing this because they're in the business to make money. They already know the G35 sedan/coupe are moneymakers. It only makes sense that they take the outgoing G35 coupe design and make it available to the Nissan line as well. This also promotes further developments in the G35 coupe design (hopefully). If they do this right, in the next development cycle of the G coupe, there should be something that makes that great. Hopefully they will not end up doing what Toyota has done. Solara/SC430, Camry/ES350, Highlander/RX350 (no so much so anymore)... but they've proven successful although their designing is blah. But Toyota has proven golden reliability backing them up, a status I think that Nissan doesn't have quite yet here in the US to support them fully.
