You guys that are installing a JL 10w6v2 in the 4080 box, are you using any polyfill?

No polyfill is needed since the 4080 box has more than enough space for the sub.

Gee, thanks a LOT guys. Just bought a 2005 Coupe AT only a couple days ago, I'm a member here all of a few hours, and thanks to this thread I've already got a 10w6v2 and 4080 on the way, wiring kits, etc, and I found myself reading up on the Pioneer head units. I'm so weak... Then again I did have a 500/1 just laying around doing nothing. No sense letting that go to waste, right?? Only problem is I also have a spare 300/4. If only that damn Bose system were a bit better, I could have lived with it.

Just got done installing my 10w6v2 and 4080! woot!!! Sounds pretty good on my Soundstream Reference 500sx.

I did notice the remote turn of keeps the amp on when you have the keys in ignition even with stereo off. This normal?

Run your remote wire to the silver/blue wire going into the bose amp. That is the remote wire for the bose and that should solve your problem.

With an amp, sub, and infinity kappas and the stock Bose HU, can the volume get an louder then the stock system? Sometimes when I'm playing music off my ipod it doesnt get loud enough.

well I have a similar problem as lostG.. with the extremely low levels of bass coming through my sub. I can't figure out if I have balanced inputs on my amp. this is the amp i'm using: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-pJglC4g...x?i=500MRDM301

I never got a manual with it so I'm kind of unsure on how to adjust the settings, even. so do I need to buy a new amp?

What problem are you having?

The alpine amp is only 175 watts X 1, so it's not going to put out a lot of sound, especially if you use a larger sub in a sealed enclosure.

Go to Alpine's web site and download the user manual.

well I had it in my old car and it hit pretty hard. I tried searching for the user manual but it's not available anymore b/c it's an old amp =\

EDIT: well I found the manual on another site and it has a switch for changing the input level.. would I want it at 1.0V-8.0v or .1v-1.0v for the setup?

Try both and see what sounds better. The Bose HU outputs low voltage.

Maybe the songs on the iPod are the problem. They may not be recorded at the proper level. You should be able to get plenty of volume though.
