So where did you tap into the line to get a signal to the Sub Amp? Is there a possible subwoofer output in the stock Bose HU, or is tapping some wires with the line out converter the only way to go about it??

Read the first page of this thread. It tells you what wires to tap into and what to do.

The OEM HU does not have a sub out. The Bose amp takes 4 channels in from the HU and sends 4 channels out left, right, front and rear, and also sends signals to the 6x9 fake subs. I don't know if the 6x9's are stereo, but all that signal splitting happens in the Bose amp.

I believe it does not directly state where to tap the signal but in the example (according to the pics) it is the red/pink wires which are the left and right rear signals.

you said to disconnect your rear 6x9s "so they dont muddle your sound"... will they sound any different than they did before the installation? or do you just mean that the quality of them wont be up to par with your new setup so you may as well disconnect them?

im assuming this step is not necessary*

if anyone can answer this i would appreciate it.

What Gilley said...there are no preouts on the Bose HU. See the instructions on the first page. One of the best DIY threads on the forum.

What amp are you using? It must accept balanced inputs to plug spliced RCAs into it.

Unless you change something else, (amp, headunit, etc) they will sound exactly like they used to, and you're right, that might not be up to par with the newly installed setup.

JL Audio's slash series amps acept balanced inputs, as do many others. You'll have to look at the instruction manual or web site of your amp.

Yes there is a LOC that you can use. PAC makes a good one that a lot of others have used. Do a search for it and you will find it. JL also sells one for that matter, but it is probably more expensive.

Do you already have an amp or do you still need to get one? If you need to get one, buy one that accepts balanced line level inputs.

I'm sure there is something you can buy to connect to another type of amp, but I'm not sure what it would be because I haven't needed to find out.
