HIN?!?! what do judges....

Look for? (didn't know where to post this)

Anyone know what the judges are looking for?

I think I have the cleaning / detailing part down as I do nothing but wax / clean all frickn day throught the day at these shows... by the time I finish waxing I start again at the first body panel... I probably get like 4 coats of NXT / PS215 on throught the day...

If you have a checklist on what judges look for at these car shows please put a list together and post it here. I have been only in one show, NOPI and I won for best infiniti from NICO (cool honor )....

Anyone have any advice? Thanks!

They look at every thing. It is not about how many coats of wax you have on.One coat will be enough. Is the interior clean everywhere? Is the engine bay clean? Is the under carrige clean?-back side of rims, brake rotors, etc. Here are the catagories EXTERIOR BODY MODIFICATIOS = 40 POINTS /
PAINT = 20 POINTS / ENGINE = 45 POINTS / UNDERCARRIAGE = 30 POINTS / WHEELS = 20 POINTS / INTERIOR = 35 POINTS In Car Entertainment = 20 points. They are looking for one off or unique modifications, fit & finish ,cleanliness. But don't allways believe they follow their own guidlines.I cover NCCA's judging book to the tee with every thing they are looking for and I still get beat.At every other show I win.So good luck at HIN next month.

you do know that HIN has Infiniti Mild and Infiniti Wild?

if I remember correctly, you remain in the Mild category if you have 3 wild mods. Once you get to 4, your car is considered Wild.

What r Wild mods?

-Aftermarket paint
-BBK
-Molded Body Work / Widebody
-Two out of the three - turbo, supercharger, nitrous
there's a couple of more

stay in the mild category and you have a chance. go wild, and you're up against Dara

Wild = Unlimited Mild modifications and between 5-10 wild modifications

Wild mods include:

- color change
- headlight/taillight conversion
- widebody
- fully molded lip kit or body kit
- custom scissor door (non bolt on)
- BBK front & rear
- over 50% of panels are fiberglass
- custom made dashboard
- RHD conversion
- swapped motor
- internally built
- 2 of 3 turbo/SC/nitrous
- air ride
- hydraulics
- custom located radio
- monitors custom installed
- 2+ video game systems
- 4+ amplifiers
- 11+ speakers

Just for reference, Mike Wasser's car is Mild *sigh*

Ok so you need 2 out of three SC/turbo/NO2 to be wild... so just a SC is not wild? Good...

so I have 2 wild mods.... BBK front and rear, and monitors... I would not think '06 lights would be wild...

Thanks for all the great info!!

somebody sounds bitter....if you understand the rules and how cars are judged, you'll know how to "show" your car better

If you show at a lot of HIN events, you'll get to know the judges. They're cool people IMO.

So are you saying Moog, that picking up the dealer wouldn't be such a good idea?

HIN events do suck for someone who does care.Unfortunatly you do need to know the judges. It is not all about the rule book or display of the car.If they did follow those guidlines,I know my cars would have won in the past.I do understand guidelines and know how to display a car.I have been doing this for 20 years.I have judged many car shows before as well.So I fully understand what is needed. From my experience HIN does not follow their guidelines for the average person.
