perhaps my simplist G35 install to date :) pics
just got done with antoher G35...and perhaps my most simple install to date.
goals:
1. good sound quality
2. retain spare tire, clean install in trunk to save as much space as possbile
originally, the customer prolly just wanted the amp bolted to the back of the seat, put in the 4080 box, and thats it...but instead, i decided for the same price, i will make it look a little better.
The customer DID NOT need the rear seat pass through due to a baby seat always int he car.
lets get started:
signal starts off at an eclipse AVN5500 double din nav unit, flushed into the double din finisher, note the Eclipse IPOD controller's connector in the upper cubby
a pair of DLS ultiamte UP6 two way component make up the front stage, the tweeters are flushed into the factory kick panels, and the mids are sealed in cups in the door, the doors are dampened as well
moving on to the trunk, a 4080 box housing an elemental designs 11kv.2 10" sub sits on the passenger side, while the amp rack housing a DLS classic CA51 5 channel is upfront, it only takes up about 3" of trunk space, and retains full access to the spare raised infiniti logo cover conceals the amp most of the time. the amp is bi amping the front components, and sending about 300 watts to the sub
with the cover off, you can see the exposed internal circuitry of the CA51 behind plexiglass
and of course, a pic of the wiring behind the amp rack:
overall it sounds really good acutally for hte budget and install, and wouldnt you agree that it looks better than if just an amp was bolted to the back seat with the wiring exposed?

not air tight, but semi-permiable, i use a non backed carpeted that allows some air to pass as the back of the cup
a completely sealed small box would create way too much midbass build up
moinster is an issue really on the back side of hte door, meaning between the inner metal and the outter panel, the foam also helps to shield the speaker from moisture

Thanks for the great work Bing
I'm the owner of the g that Bing worked on.
He really did a great install and worth the drive down. He even gave me a ride back at 7pm and picked me up from the bart station. Name a shop who will do that for their customers. Over all I'm really happy with the install and sounds amazing for the budget. All I have to do now is to figure out how the damn eclipse unit.

Gosh, now I'm tempted to give up my 2 weekend project and have Bing install everything for me.
Hey Bing, I have a AVN6600, 2 PPI A300.2 (2x75watt, art series), 1 w3 in a 4080, 1 JL 250/1, a pair of Boston 6.4 ProSeries components, and wires. Been thinking about selling the PPI's and 250/1 and getting the 500/5 to simplify the setup. I like how you did this setup. You have some ideas? I don't really want to spend too much more cuz I spent more than I expected buying th AVN6600.

well guys, to be perfectly honest, and i hope i dont offend anyone here i really dont like the eclipse units compared to the pioneer nav units...
i may be biased because as a dealer years ago, i swore off eclipse after encountering endless reliablity issues with the HU, but this new install sorta got my blood boiling again...somethings that sorta dont make sense to me:
1. lots of extra plugs and long wires compared to pioneer units, meaning harder to stuff behidn tight dash cavities
2. it has non-fading output but only FOUR steps of adjustment!! 1 to 4???! how can anyone fully adjust their bass wtih 4 steps?
3. overall the functions arent as intuitive to use
4. graphics is not as nice as the pcomparable pioneer units
other than that, i do agree the 5 volt output helps a bit with SQ (nothing ac heap line driver cant fix on the pioneers), and the screen quality is decent, but honestly, if it were up to me, i woudl be installing Z1s and D3s all day
