Only 1 RCA...Whats wrong with my setup.

I installed a JL 1000/1 and 2 JL 10w6v2 to my bose HU. I used a High to low converter which was purchased at circuit city. I hooked up the 4 wires on the convertor, to the two positives to the postives and two negatives to the two negatives to the rear speaker in, before they enter the stock amp. I plugged the RCAs into the convertor and the other end into the JL amp.
I put all the plastics back together, ran the bass control ****, and installed everything in the trunk.
The amp and subs work, however they are not very loud at all. And it sounds extremley better, but still not the way it should when only one RCA is connected.

I also had it connected directly to the rear speakers, and I had the same problem as I do now.

Does anyone know what is wrong my setup.. Is there something wrong with the convertor. Please let me know.

Check the amp input switch on the 1000/1. Most times your factory signal does not send enough voltage. Play with the switch and this should solve your problem. Its like a signal booster.

You don't need a high low (LOC) converter with the Bose HU. It already outputs a low 2 volt signal that can be fed straight into the JL amp if you just cut an RCA cable and splice it into the wires you're already using for the LOC. It's possible that the LOC is reducing the voltage of the audio signal even more.

should I go right off the rear speakers or should I stick with splicing into the preamp wires, the way I currently have it?

Preamp only. Don't tap into the signal after the Bose amp.

Sounds like you have something out of phase. Switch the wiring to ONE speakers you tapped in to get the signal from and see if that fixes the problem.
