FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
i have a question about the NN03 Scoche harness...
I was just being bored and so i was inspecting the harnesses:
On the little harness, there is a black/white wire (mostly black) that is not labeled. Is this a ground wire or what???
Also, to tap into the speed wire for AVIC-N1 nav, what gauge wire do i need? 18g stranded copper?

Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
Killer info man, thanks for hookin us all up! I've already upgraded my stock system with various things. But I need to know if this JDM dash works with the factory nav unit. An aftermarket head unit will complete my mission but I'm worried about it not fitting in the dash space behind because of the navi and want to make sure it will still allow it to work. Got any info for me?
Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
Chaser,
An aftermarket HU and the Skyline dash should work with the stock navi. If you're concerned by the space limitations, if you order the right aluminum bracket, the stock navi will fit. The actual navi unit is located in the upper glovebox and the screen is in the navi cubby.
The AC controller unit is thin enough where the stock navi screen should still fit. An aftermarket HU will fit into the doubleDIN space way below the screen. The stock navi screen will drop right into the JDM dash, the same place it was located on the stock dash.
I am assuming the stock navi will plug into the AUX IN RCA plug in the back of an aftermarket HU.
The JDM dash and aluminum bracket behind it just allows the replacement of the stock radio into a doubleDIN space with an aftermarket HU. The rest (AC controller SPACE, stock navi screen or cubby) are the same as stock.
Remember, you'll need to order the v35 AC controller too....
Hope this helps......

Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
Man thanx a ton! I more than appreciate the help here brotha! It would have been a big pain in the a$$ to order $350 worth of JDM parts, wait 2 weeks to get them, only to realize they wouldn't work. This was my first ever post on this forum, thanks again!

Ron, your guide helped get my CD Changer controller installed ALOT easier, the installer used it and got the changer installed in about 2 hours!

Awesome job!!!! I plan on installing an Eclipse AVN and I have a question. Why did you use the 28038-AL700 instead of the 28034-AL710? I thought that was for if you already have NAV?
Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
im also installing the AVN, what are these numbers and what do they mean?
also, where is the emergency brake wire located to only allow dvd viewing while pressed?

Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
just connect that parking brake wire to the Ground.... or to that bolt behind the clock in the center dash.... that way it will let you watch movies while driving...

Re: FINALLY! My DoubleDIN Conversion DIY Guide
thanks alot! but after having it installed, where is the parking wire (under the hood in the engine bay, or under the dash?), i will have to this myself cause my installer is doing it all legal... also, will i have to tear apart the dash to get to it?
