Custom Vista ultimate 8.4" Xenarc touchscreen/fingerprint/EVDORevA carpc
Well this has been an off and on again project for a while now so I thought Id post up the progress..
Heres what the current setup looks like.Unfortunately, my only access to a camera was for a couple hours today so I was not able to take in progress pics. The next step is to carbon fiber the entire console and adjust the deck fitment upward a bit. Also, fully replace the factory nav with a xenarc 7" and run dual screen. I knew I could have gone with the tv2nav module for the oem screen and just got a usb 7 touchscreen controller and run the SVideo off the computer video card but the quality would suffer greatly so I figure going with another high resolution lcd would be the best route. Material list will follow
Just some brief info on a couple things. This PC is running vista ultimate and is fully aero capable. Ultimate has all of the normal tablet features built in such as onscreen keyboard and touchscreen control/gui options. It runs an m-audio audiophile card that has straight RCA out that is connected directly to the aux input on the Pioneer Premiere DEH860 head unit, Sounds great! Running a wireless router that has a PCMCIA cardslot that serves my sprint wireless broadband (EVDO Rev.A) to computer and also acts as an access point thus making it a hotspot Its a really cool feeling driving around streaming my favorite 128kb+ online radio streams!
Sorry for the dirty carpets :
Fingerprint scanner built into the door switch panel. It allows me to login into the computer, websites like driver and other programs on the fly so I dont <Br>have to type in usernames and passwords on keyboard, makes things nice and quick.
Thanks for the night pics andy:
The console pieces are both modified OEM parts. The ash tray holder was filled in through a plastic welding process (simply melting plastic together) Then dremel/sanding to get the deck hole cut. On the upper piece I used part of the xenarc screen bezel and cut a hole in the OEM piece and plastic welded them together which allowed me to maintain the mounting points for the lcd to the bezel/housing. Computer is located in the trunk to make it "silent"

Still stock but it sounds much better after putting 60sqft sound deadening in there and filled the rear quarter panels with insulation. I had a 13w7 running off a Zapco Reference 750 at one point but took it out for the sake of the computer and more importantly my back seat . I do plan on putting some DLS components in and a smaller sub. Possibly a 10w7

I personally have been inside Steve's car and seen the CarPC.
It's freaking sweet. The LCD touch screen is huge. You must see it to admire his talent.
I was using his WIFI to surf the G35driver.com from 200 feet and the speed was fine at 128KB.
And those blue lights console is freaking HOT!!!!
