The 4080 webiste says mounting debt is 7.5", and Im getting mixed results on the mounting depth of the Type R sub. I've found sites and vendors claiming anywhere from 7.5" to 7.8".

If you are referring to the 4080 enclosure for the sedan, an Type R will fit fine. I have one in my sedan.

A 12 inch sub will not fit in the coupe 4080 enclosure. They are made to fit 10 inch subs.

Sorry, yes I meant a 12" 4080 box for a Sedan. How do you like the sound of it? In all honesty, was it worth the $350?

The box is worth the price. I have one in my sedan and two in my coupe. What does that tell you about the quality? It would cost a lot more for a similar custom box.

You just need enough power to push the Alpine 12.

The sub I believe its 150-500RMS , 1500Peak. Im going to power it with a Panasonic monoblock amp 350RSM, 1100Peak. You think thats good enough?

I've had this EXACT setup in my sedan with an Alpine type-r 12" woofer and it KICKED. I had about 600-900 watts going to it (DVC 4ohm setup = 2ohm total). The 4080 box is second to none.

I've done some fiberglass and this thing is TOP NOTCH all the way. Ingenius fit, perfect match, and quality.

so... how'd it go? I have 2 '05 model Alpine Type-R 12's that I pulled from my '98 ZX2 that I'm eager to get into my '04 sedan G35... did they fit?? any mounting problems?? did you provide any special instructions when you ordered the box??

I just e-mailed them a few minutes ago, now I'm awaiting a reply... but if you could tell me first hand, I'd be greatly appreciative... I'd rather have a 4080 so I can keep my skipass functional, especially since the sedan seats can't fold down...

And how long did it take to get the box? and did you have to specify what side you wanted?

send your type r way more power. on my old car i had a massive ported 2.3x ft^3 box with 600wrms and it was a decent amount to send.

many people have sent type r's 1kwrms and had no problems as long as you dont use the amp in a stupid way. these speakers are very tough and able to handle a lot more power than you would think from their ratings

Since the 4080 enclosure is only offered for the passenger side in the sedan, you can only use one of your 12s. My Type R mounted with no problems. It takes about a week to get the enclosure.

maybe isobaric loading at any rate, I've decided to go with a zenclosure instead, there's a member here selling a 2x12 that should be perfect for my application, and thinking about the location of its mounting, I'll get the boom I've been wanting since i got this car 3 weeks ago... thanks for the help though, I was kinda sad that they didn't make the drivers' side, as I've already had both subs for quite a while :-/
